ilovelee.org Down, Domain Expired Since April 3, 2017

Lee County’s local tourism website, ilovelee.org, is no more—at least for the time being. A recent visit to the site revealed a blank godaddy.com placeholder page with a notice that the domain “ilovelee.org” was allowed to expire on April 3, 2017, and was currently under review for renewal or deletion. The website has been unavailable to anyone for 25 days as of the time of this article.

This no doubt comes as a blow to the Lee County tourism movement, which ramped up in recent years with the I love Lee campaign. Many local businesses have been on board, and have featured the I love Lee campaign in their shops and offices. Just as the campaign seemed to be picking up steam, the website vanished from browsers everywhere.

How many tourism dollars are now not flowing into Lee County because the website is down? The impact is difficult to calculate—especially since Memorial Day and summer vacation are now on the horizon. What is to become of the site and the campaign is not known at this time. More information will be made available as it develops.
