UPDATE 5/5/17 @ 07:10 – The U.S. Marshal Service and the Justice Department released more information Thursday evening about the two escaped inmates from USP Lee Prison Camp.
Officials specified that the inmates were discovering missing from the prison camp around 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
Both men are serving sentences for non-violent drug, racketeering, and conspiracy crimes. They are not considered particularly dangerous, and they are not known to be armed at this time. However, caution should be exercised by anyone encountering or seeing these escapees.
The Justice Department released more information Thursday about the escapees: their descriptions and their criminal convictions.
Salah Mohamed is 35 years old. His hair is black, and his eyes are brown. Officials listed his height at 5’5” and his weight as 170 pounds.
Kamal Qazah is 37 years old. His hair is black, and his eyes are brown. Officials listed his height as 5’10” and his weigh as 225 pounds.
Criminal Convictions for Which They Are Serving Sentences at USP Lee
The Justice Department stated that Mohamed was sentenced by the Eastern District of Virginia to 191 months incarceration for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine base, cocaine hydrochloride, and heroin; conspiracy to ship, transport, receive, possess, sell, distribute, and purchase contraband cigarettes; and conspiracy to launder monetary instruments.
According to the Justice Department, Qazah was sentenced by the Western District of North Carolina to 172 months incarceration for conspiracy to commit interstate transport of stolen goods and receive property stolen in interstate commerce; receive stolen property and aiding and abetting; conspiracy to commit money laundering; and money laundering and aiding and abetting.

LEE COUNTY, Va. – Two inmates have escaped from the prison camp at USP Lee in Hickory Flats according to the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS). The two inmates, Kamal Qazah and Salah Mohamed were last seen Wednesday morning, having walked away from the prison camp sometime after that.
Both men are serving sentences for non-violent crimes, and neither of them is considered to be armed or particularly dangerous, but caution should be taken.
