Lee County Head Start Box Car Derby Showcases Awesome Kids, Families

JONESVILLE – Students, parents, and teachers gathered at Jonesville First Baptist Church Family Life Center at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017 for the Lee County Head Start Box Car Derby. An estimated 300+ people were in attendance for this fun-filled event!

The spirited races were all about fun for the kids, but the great pains taken by teachers and students alike to prepare for the derby showed plainly when the racers lined up on the starting line. Leading up to the event, children learned important lessons about following directions, sportsmanship, and how to make and decorate some pretty snazzy cardboard racers.

Hats–or should we say derbies–off to everyone who worked hard to make this event so much fun and so successful.

For family and friends who could not make it to the Box Car Derby Friday, and for those who would like to see it again, we prepared a video and some still images as a memento.
