Amazon Prime Now Gets Officially Retired [2021]

After 7 years of the launch, Amazon Prime Now app and website are officially shutting down.

Over the years of its launch, the Prime Now platform became popular because of the blazing fast service it used to offer all over the world.

Fulfilled by Amazon Fresh and Whole Food Market, you could order fruits, and groceries receive them within 2 hours.

What Would Happen to Amazon Prime Now?

Don’t get me wrong but Amazon isn’t going away with their Prime Now service anytime soon.

Instead, from now on, Amazon is shifting all of its primes now service to the official Amazon Shopping app.

This has happened months after Amazon stopped their Prime Now service in the countries like India, Japan, and Singapore.

In an official blog post, Amazon officially retired the Amazon Prime Now app and website by releasing the following statement in the public domain.

This is what Amazon said, “To make this experience even more seamless for customers, we are moving the experience from a separate Prime Now app onto the Amazon app and website so customers can shop all Amazon has to offer from one convenient location.”

What do the Amazon Officials Have to Say?

When asked, VP of grocery at Amazon, Stephenie Landry, said that the Amazon Prime Now platform is officially retired and will be available by the end of 2021 in the global markets.

From this point onwards, Amazon will use its third-party partnerships to deliver on-time orders of groceries to its millions of customers worldwide.

These customers will now be able to place orders using their flagship app or website.

Further, in the blog post, Amazon Grocery VP said, “While the experience may vary slightly by country, customers in the U.S. can shop Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods Market by searching those stores on Amazon.com or the Amazon app,”

Frequently Asked Questions

What would happen to 2 hours delivery after the closing of Amazon Prime Now?

Now, the 2-hour service is integrated into the main Amazon app where you can place eligible orders to receive them within 2 hours.

Does that mean Amazon is also shutting down its 24-hour delivery service?

Not exactly. As I said earlier, Amazon has integrated each and every service offered by Prime Now to the official Amazon App.

Conclusion

To be honest, I myself stopped ordering groceries from the Amazon Prime Now platform.

I guess lack of active users on the app or website, Amazon was forced to shut down or I would say merge it with their mainstream app.

That’s all for now.

If you’ve got any questions to ask concerning the Amazon Prime Now app or their fast delivery service then do let me know about this in the comments section given below.

  1. Do they stop charging Amazon prime on our credit cards now, and how about the movies and such that prime customers used to get included?

    1. They will still charge for the amazon price video but not for the amazon prime now.

And you can watch movies on Amazon prime because only the prime now app and website are going to shut down.
