In almost every manner, the highly-anticipated MCU followup (officially named Thor: Love and Thunder) intends to grow on its predecessor, 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. More fresh people, MCU linkages, and guest stars will be more than virtually any other independent MCU film we already know. But, if that weren’t plenty, there will be more supernatural goats than any other Marvel endeavor has attempted to include.
Now we have yet another peek at how the villain in Thor: Love and Thunder will appear.
Christian Bale’s look from the upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder has been unveiled in new photographs. With the Chris Hemsworth-led film, the actor will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, portraying the monstrous Gorr the God Butcher. This week, the 47-year-old was seen in costume for the first time during the filming in Malibu, California. He was completely unrecognizable in the photographs received by the Daily Mail, as he was greying from head to toe. According to a Daily Mail report, love and Thunder are reportedly taking pickup shots in Malibu, California.
Christian Bale’s casting as Thor: Love and Thunder’s Gorr the God Butcher ruffled feathers, but we were yet to see him in full regalia in any of the set photos that have surfaced online.
A dream came true when the actor was seen in Grey from top to foot, finished with an accompanying grey cloak. His bare arms and hands were likewise painted grey as he sought to disguise himself under a black robe when pacing the location. Gorr’s aesthetic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not quite as alien as Bale’s, but it does seem that Bale is wearing some implants. However, the Necrosword is likely to be brought to life and move through VFX at this stage in the game. Bale, known for fully committing to his physical and intellectual performances, was previously photographed with a shaved head.
Bale’s makeover into Gorr the God Butcher is unexpected, given that it could have been accomplished using CGI in post-production. Other MCU characters, including Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff), are all scheduled to return for the fourth “Thor” film, using actual makeup as well.
Gorr has a dreadfully grim story
Gorr’s background is terrible. The Marvel supervillain was born on an unnamed planet and maintained his faith in God even when his planet was starving. Gorr’s entire family was snuffed out in the original story, and he swore exact vengeance on the Deities who neglected to rescue the family. In the MCU, Hela handled the Necroswords, so we’re guessing her demise on Asgard is what gives the villain the abilities he wishes to consider on Thor and the remainder of Asgard.

Christian Bale has signed on to portray Gorr the God Butcher, who played a key role in Jason Aaron’s tenure as the man who wiped out deities across time and space and will supposedly be pitted against the Thors. For Odin’s sake, he essentially became Marvel’s Kratos. What’s not to enjoy about this?
