After the successful launch of the 5th beta weeks ago, beta 6 for Apple Watch OS was released for developers for testing. This latest build is now available for download through the Apple Developer Center for those who enlisted and enrolled themselves for testing the program’s working. Those who already have the previous beta software can update their versions by connecting to the internet. With Apple releasing WatchOS 8 beta 6 to developers, we can expect the Public testing betas to come in a few days.
Dates for the official Apple release of watchOS 8
The first beta was released on June 7. This was followed by Beta 2 being released on June 24, Beta 3 on July 14, and Beta 4 on July 27. Apple released watchOS 8 beta 6 to developers shortly after the launch of Beta 5, which has been available since August 11. The official Apple WatchOS 8 is set to release this fall. Developers will also be receiving access to betas for other Apple software like iOS beta 6, tvOS 15 beta 6, HomePod 15 beta 6.
How to Get the Apple WatchOS beta 6
Installing the beta
Developers who wish to install WatchOS 8, can download the configuration profile from the Apple Developer Center subject to them being enrolled for testing the software. Once that has been installed, the Apple WatchOS 8 can be downloaded through the specialized Apple Watch app on your iPhone. This can be reached by going to General and then going to Software update.
Updating a previous beta
There might be a few developers who want to update their existing versions to the new software. They must ensure that their Apple Watch has a minimum of 50 percent battery life. Furthermore, the Apple Watch must be placed on the charger. A compatible iPhone must be within range of it. Be wary that the version is still in the development phase and is not recommended to install watchOS 8 on a primary Apple Watch.
Features on the Apple WatchOS beta 6
The WatchOS beta 2 introduced the feature of “Portraits” on the watch’s face. We didn’t get much new functionality in beta 3 and 4, which focussed on bug fixes and enhancing user experience. Beta 5 brought in the Weather icon.
Apple released watchOS beta 6 to developers on Tuesday, and it has many useful and fun features installed. According to the latest reports, we can expect to find respiratory rate trackers on the Sleep App, Digital Crown Cursor Control, brand new Photos layouts, memories collage for pictures, GIF search for messages, and the much-awaited addition of the Tai Chi and Pilates workouts. A new app called Mindfulness will also be introduced in this beta and will help users in breathing exercises. Photos can now also be shared through messages and mail. On the topic of messages, the new beta brings in the feature of allowing you to scribble emojis in messages. The Weather App that was released in the previous beta will now predict the precipitation in the next one hour.
Cautionary Warnings for Beta Testers
With the latest beta available for testing, we advise you to explore the beta with caution. Refrain from installing the beta on your primary device as this may cause a data loss. Beta testers are advised to download the beta on non-essential devices after all important data has been backed up. Another common issue that has been raised is that the watch tends to repeatedly disconnect from your phone. This issue has been declared as identified by Apple itself, and they have suggested restarting your iPhone as a plausible workaround solution.
