Anthony Fauci, a doctor, has praised Gavin Newsom (the Governor) for mandating Covid-19 vaccines for all students in California. He said that this is not a new approach for schools.
California declared with full confidence the country’s first-ever state-wide Covid-19 vaccine necessity in schools. The announcement made by Gov. Gavin Newsom related the mandate to those for mumps, rubella, and measles. The mandate has separated parents within California. However, Anthony Fauci highly praised the verdict made by the state, resonating with California’s argument.
On ABC’s “This Week,” Fauci said that he has been and is still supporting these sorts of mandates. He also said that you could make a few omissions to them, but overall, people see this as something new, and while we have made it necessary for kids to enter schools to get distinct kinds of vaccines.
Over 320000 people are working in over 1000 schools in the state. It comprises over 6.1 million students. Rupali Limaye (a professor of public health) said that unsurprisingly, the state of California delivered such a broad mandate. Apart from being a professor, she also studies vaccine decision-making at Bloomberg School of Public Health of John Hopkins University.
What Did Newsom Do Later?
Gavin Newsom issued an order that needs state workers to either be vaccinated or get a covid-19 test. Moreover, he managed schooling throughout the pandemic phase, which was a key issue in the recall drive. Newsom was criticized for not moving faster to reopen schools and have students return to the classrooms, while other states got back to in-person learning.
Ever since the return of in-person learning in California, Gavin Newsom declared that each student would always need to wear a mask. It was a move linked to the federal policies issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As per the policies, the staff and students must wear a mask or face covering within the school premises.
