According to reports, Travis Scott has decided not to perform at Day N Vegas Festival this weekend.
The headlining appearance at Las Vegas Festival Grounds was scheduled for Saturday, 13th November, merely less than a week after his own Astroworld festival had taken place at Houston’s NRG Park, where eight concert-goers between the age group of 14 and 27 had lost their lives.
It was described by the reliable sources being Scott as “too distraught to play” and disclose that he has decided to send entire refunds for all people who had purchased the tickets to Astroworld.
Several Concert-goers Suffered Cardiac Arrests
After a few days since the tragedy happened, a lot of things have come to light regarding the series of events that resulted in the cardiac arrests of a number of attendees.
Among them a minimum of one harming (of a police officer by using a dermal needle), together with many more attendees who were smashed in the massive crowd of 15000 people.
Police and firefighters have announced a “mass casualty” event at 9:38 p.m., just 32 minutes after Scott’s set started, when a rush of the crowd had purportedly started, according to the Houston Chronicle.
As reported by the paper, the promoters had given their consent to look for a way to end the concert little soon following the report of 9:38 “casualty”, but that the show perpetuated till the time when Scott ran through his scheduled setlist and ended as planned at 10:15 p.m.
Houston Police Chief Troy Finner Said That Sudden Halt Could Lead to a Riot
Troy Finner, the chief of the Houston Police has defended allowing the show to play out, stating that a sudden stop of the concert could have resulted in an insurrection.
But pointed out that the festival was not running with reduced staff to handle and that the number of authorities present there should have been enough to tackle a crowd of 50,000 people under normal situations.
The concert that has also engaged Drake appearing as a surprise on the stage for the final songs of Scott’s performance, was being webcast live to a global audience via Apple Music. The second night of the festival that was scheduled to be held on Saturday was instantly aborted since the scope of the deaths and injuries of the first night became apparent.
Similar to Astroworld, Day N Vegas is an ordinary admission festival, where within regular situations, fans are already left to jockey for the best positions. Scott planned to strike the main stage, dubbed the Frank Stage on Saturday night from 10:45 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., subsequent sets by Lil Baby and Doja Cat.
Roddy Ricch, who has performed ahead of Scott at Astroworld and on Saturday, has made a promise that he will send his entire festival earnings to the families of those people who succumbed to death, has a main stage slot at Day N Vegas on Friday; Kendrick Lamar is set to headline. Tyler the Creator headlines on Sunday.
There has been not a single word out yet from AEG, the corporate parent of Goldenvoice and the festival’s promoter as well, regarding a substitute for Scott’s Saturday night slot or a reorganization of present set times.
