The travel restrictions that have been imposed by President Biden on multiple African countries given the new variant of the coronavirus that has known to be the omicron variant, despite calling his antecedent a “racist” and “xenophobic” for levying his travel bans, a flash from the past that was largely ignored by the media.
Back in 2017, former President Donald Trump levied travel bans upon six mostly Muslim nations with worries of inappropriate checking. Liberal media frequently cited it as the “Muslim ban.”
When the COVID-19 pandemic started to hit all over the world during early 2020, the former president then would restrict travel from China and six other nations which includes Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Myanmar, Sudan, and Tanzania. Biden who was a presidential candidate during the time suggested that Trump’s moves were “xenophobic.”
When Trump Imposed Travel Bans Biden Criticized the Action
Day after Trump came up with traveling restrictions from China into the United States, Biden tweeted “We are in the midst of a crisis with the coronavirus,” adding “We need to lead the way with science – not Donald Trump’s record of hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering. He is the worst possible person to lead our country through a global health emergency.”
The current president also cited Trump’s restriction that was only for a while at that time on African countries as a “disgrace.”
Biden Has Also Taken an Identical Step to Trump’s One
And now when he is in the same role, it is very apparent that Biden is also heading in a similar course. It is expected that the first cases of the new omicron variant have been detected in southern Africa.
On Friday, Biden announced that the country would be imposing bans on traveling from South Africa, along with seven other countries Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, and Malawi. The restrictions started on Monday.
During the time of the announcement of travel bans by Trump, the media had a rage of sorts and recommended that it was a biased step. But this week’s headlines recommend that those restrictions were more acceptable than Biden’s one.
Adjacent CNN articles upon the challenging travel restrictions reflected that the network was way fairer to Biden’s latest bans.

In February 2020, The New York Times Opinion page ran a column titled, “The Racism at the Heart of Trump’s ‘Travel Ban’”. However, this week, the newspaper ran a tamer title, “United States will bar travelers from 8 countries.”
Joe Concha, a Fox News contributor attempted to get to know why the media has not got any objection to Biden’s travel restrictions.
Concha said “Because Joe Biden’s ban comes from a good, decent place to save lives, while Trump just did it as an excuse to ban people from coming here,” adding “As utterly sophomoric and ridiculous as those arguments are in applying motive, there are enough viewers and readers out there willing to believe it.”
On Saturday, host Dan Bongino claimed that Biden is “replicating what he called racist,” “Unfiltered” whilst roaring on media hypocrisy.
Vernon Jones, Georgia gubernatorial candidate also expressed surprise where the enraged headlines were.
Trump imposed a travel ban from African countries. He was called xenophobic & a racist by @JoeBiden, liberal democrats & media, then sued. @JoeBiden imposed a travel ban from 8 African countries. No one has called him xenophobic, a racist or sued.
This is straight B.S.!

Psaki on Biden Claims on Biden’s Travel Bans
The Media Research Center’s Dan Gainor said “The legacy media never disappoint,” continuing further “They continue to embrace their role as public relations staff for the Biden administration.
The omicron variant has been identified in at least a dozen countries so far. Nearly all of those weren’t included in Biden’s list of nations where he blocked travel. The key reason South Africa was blocked is it identified the virus.
Yet, the press refused to call out Biden in any similar way to what they did to President Donald Trump.”
While concluding he said, “Leftist journalists continue to obey my rule of media coverage: Everything left is right and everything right is wrong.”
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki at her Monday press briefing, stated that Biden was at odds with Trump’s “xenophobic tweet” and not in opposition of the travel bans themselves. Media witnesses pressed back on that clarification.
This is a lie. Trump announced the China travel ban on January 31st. A little later that day Biden delivered the “hysterical xenophobia & fear mongering” line Doocy referenced. Trump tweet Psaki is referring to wasn’t until March, almost two months later.https://t.co/KbAAknpiw5 https://t.co/GhWioRcXUn

Psaki’s explanation isn’t true.
Just minutes after the Trump admin announced the China travel ban, Biden went on stage in Iowa and attacked Trump’s covid response, warning of “hysterical xenophobia.”
