Seven years later theft of $600,000 was reported from a church safe, a plumber allegedly obtained envelopes of cash and checks in the bathroom wall of Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston.
Recently, the plumber invited the Morning Bullpen radio show on 100.3 The Bull to share the story, and the left cohost George Lindsey was left in shock after hearing this.
According to KPRC, Lindsey said, “It was just like unbelievable the things he was telling us they found in the walls.” The Houston Chronicle reported the plumber told the show he was asked to come in for repairing a toilet, which prompted the find on November 10.
On Thursday, according to KPRC, the caller told the show “There was a loose toilet in the wall, and we removed the tile,” adding further “We went to go remove the toilet, and I moved some insulation away and about 500 envelopes fell out of the wall, and I was like ‘Oh wow!’” The caller said he notified the church’s maintenance supervisor and turned the envelopes in.
The Amount of Cash and Check Recovered Is Still Not Clear
Lindsey said, “So then, he relayed to us that in 2014, there was a big story about money being stolen from Lakewood Church.” In March 2014, Houston police stated that around cash of $200,000 and $400,000 in checks were ripped off from the church, as per Click2Houston.
The robbery allegedly took place around between 9th and 10th March of 2014. A statement released by the Lakewood Church denoting Houston Police were informed about the findings of last month and are now helping with the investigation, as per KPRC.
The total amount of cash and checks discovered is still not known, but the situations encompassing the case led to a mysterious figure.
According to KPRC, Lindsey said, “Don’t you want to know what happened, I mean they stole the money, but they didn’t get it out of the wall. Did they have an accident, you know what I mean? It’s like, why did they never go back? If it’s that money, why did they never go back?”
