On Saturday, an event was held by Texas Governor Greg Abbott in Rio Grande City to debut steps initiated by the state for making a border wall in the U.S.-Mexico border.
‘Abbott Tax’: O’Rourke claims that Texans’ power bills are increasing since nothing has been done by the governor on the grid.
Abbott Blamed President Biden for the Border Conditions
In the event, yet again the governor blamed for border situations at the feet of President Joe Biden and his administration.
On Saturday, Abbott said “Texas is taking what truly is unprecedented by any state ever — for a state to build a wall on our border to secure and safeguard the sovereignty of the United States, as well as our state,” adding further “And this unprecedented action is needed for one single reason.
And that’s because the Biden administration has failed to do its job as required by the Constitution and as required by laws passed by Congress to enforce the immigration laws of the United States of America.”
The governor argues that unregulated illegitimate immigration at the Texas border has led to more than 1.2 million people being incarcerated.
Abbott claimed that people aren’t just unlawfully immigrating from Mexico, but are also utilizing the Texas border to make their way from several countries throughout the world, along with China as well as Russia.
Despite oppositions from the GOP, the Biden administration has continued a minimum of two border policies in place which were imposed under the presidency of former President Trump, along with the Migrant Protection Protocols (which enables illegal non-Mexican migrants who are made captive, to be deported to Mexico instead their country of origin) and Title 42 (which enables illegal migrants to be sent considering COVID-19 reasons immediately, without entitling asylum).
The Texas governor, whom several state officials also joined, stated that the present border policies enable human smuggling and drug trafficking to get into Texas and the remaining of the U.S., especially the fatally synthetic fentanyl.
Fentanyl Leaving Dreadful Wake Over U.S.-Mexico Border Communities
While highlighting increasing fentanyl overdose deaths across the nation, Abbott said, “Enough fentanyl [has been found] to kill every man, woman and child in Texas, California, New York, Illinois and Florida combined,” adding further “Joe Biden has facilitated the death of those people by the open border policies that he has allowed to take place here in Texas.”
Abbott described that the border wall is developed upon the same material and idea as that of the wall built at some parts of the border under the Trump presidency. In the event, Abbott displayed the power of the fence’s steel beams by smacking a hammer atop a block of the material.
The Texas governor expressed that Texas has got an amount of $54 million in individual donations for the erection of the wall, further stating that the estimated cost for finishing it is yet to be ascertained.
Abbott said, “We’re going to spend as much as it takes to build as much wall as we possibly can.”
George P. Bush, who is Texas Land Commissioner, joined Abbott at the border, saying that Texas is going through a border crisis “like none we’ve ever seen before.”
Further, Bush said “Our state is facing a border crisis like none we’ve ever seen before. Washington continues to ignore it even as Texans’ lives are endangered, properties damaged, and record levels of harmful drugs pour into our communities,” adding “We will not stop until this wall is built and our border is secure.
Fighting for border security requires a team effort, and I thank Governor Abbott, the state legislature, and our other partner agencies for their support of this cause.”
