Abducted Haiti Missionaries narrated their story of daring midnight escape. They have followed the stars for navigation, crossed the dense uneven terrains for hours, and finally got their freedom.
After having a dreadful experience while being captive for months, the entire group has finally returned to their home.
An official spokesperson from Christian Aid Ministries announced it on Monday. Weston Showalter, a CAM spokesperson, said that their daring escape was successful since God “nudged” their plan. He further said that the group joined together and trusted God with their plans.
The Abduction Horror
On October 16, 17 missionaries were kidnapped by a gang of 400 Mawozo in Haiti. The missionaries were soon kidnapped after they visited an orphanage. The gang demanded a heavy ransom of $17 million, $1 million for each of the 17 hostages.
But after a month, two out of those 17 hostages were released on November 21. Another three hostages were let out on December 5th, two weeks after the first release. Now, 12 more hostages were left to be freed.
However, these 12 brave souls managed to make their way out of this entire abduction scenario. The entire incident stretched for almost 2 months.
Christian Aid Ministries have been known for actively working towards the betterment of the people of Haiti. Since the last three decades, several programs have been conducted to heal the needed people spiritually and physically.
The areas they choose to offer their guidance including Haiti may be dangerous at times. The members can apprehend the risks and dangers associated with visiting these areas.

Director David Troyer stated, “If we only go where it’s safe we would stay at home.”
Since such an unfortunate incident took place, the organization is reconsidering and re-examining all of the safety protocols to avoid such fiascos.
The trips may have been paused for a while but they aren’t going to step back from standing by the side of the Haitian people.
“We can not abandon them in their greatest time of need,” Director Troyer said. “We want Haitians to flourish economically and spiritually.”

The Escape Plan
During the news conference that was held in Ohio, the spokesperson detailed their escape plan. The group started by wearing clothes and shoes. Besides, they also packed water bottles for the long journey ahead.
They steered clear of “numerous guards” and began their journey towards the mountain. The group followed the stars for navigating through “woods and thickets”.
In the press conference, a spokesperson said, “Two hours were through fierce brambles. We were in gang territory the whole hike.”
After tirelessly hiking for hours, the missionaries spotted a person and got access to a phone. Upon making calls to the authorities, the hostages safely landed in Florida.
They boarded the United States Coast Guard flight that assured full security of these hostages who have already suffered a lot.
Despite such a horrid ordeal, the group kept smiling during their reunion.
Even if these hostages were trapped for months, it seems like the captors took good care of the children.
The group could manage to overcome such a cumbersome situation just by keeping faith in each other. They kept praying and believing in God. It surely wasn’t easy to get back to normal life after enduring so much throughout all these months.

But they even stated that the group enjoyed the time they spent together at the orphanage just before getting kidnapped.
The incident may have shaken the hostages from their core but they still hope to serve the needy at desperate times.
