Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Release Date, Trailer and More

At the 2021 Tokyo Game Show in September, Capcom released fresh details about the Monster Hunter franchise’s plans. Monster Hunter Rise for PC and its planned paid DLC addition, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, were among the event’s highlights.

With more hard objectives, a new area to explore, new items to obtain, and new monsters to slaughter, this expansion promises to expand based on one of the greatest multiplayer games on PC.

This DLC will be available somewhere in the summer of 2022. Meanwhile, here’s all you need to know about Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak in the meanwhile.

What Is Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, and What Does It Entail?

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is a paid DLC addition for Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom’s newest mainline Monster Hunter title. The expansion continues the cycle of hunting enormous monsters and forging formidable weaponry from their body parts to take on larger adversaries.

‘Raised by Wolves’ Season 2 Release Date and More Additional Updates Are Here!

The original Monster Hunter Rise’s concept had you defending Kamura Village from creatures driven insane by a strange event known as The Rampage. Sunbreak occurs immediately after this incident, and your player character travels to Elgado, a faraway kingdom, at the request of a female knight.

This knight also looks like Rondine, one of Kamura’s Villages’ shopkeepers from whom you may purchase stuff.

So yet, this is all that has been released about Sunbreak’s narrative, however, Capcom promises that more will be divulged in the future. This knight, I predict, has heard of your hunting exploits and is requesting your assistance in protecting her nation from Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak’s flagship monster, Malzeno, the Elder Dragon.

What New Features Will Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Offer?

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, like other Monster Hunter expansions such as Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, will add additional features to the basic game.

For starters, it will include Master Rank, a level of difficulty that includes demanding tasks that make High-Rank assignments appear trivial. Quests in the Master Rank will also award players with new weapons and armor sets that are more powerful than those in the High Rank, as well as new designs to match their might.

There will also be new places to visit and personalities to interact with at a new base of operations. A ruined fortress that Malzeno calls home is one of the new confirmed maps.

The Rampage was a unique task type in Monster Hunter Rise, where you defended the gates of Kamura town against waves of monsters in tower defense-style missions. There’s no word on whether these Rampage Quests will return, or whether Sunbreak will replace them with a different style of quest entirely.

New Monsters

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will include all of the creatures from the main game, as well as new monsters and fan favorites. Sunbreak’s new monsters are more related to creatures from European mythology than Rising’s new monsters, which were influenced by ancient Japanese ykai.

For example, Malzeno, Sunbreak’s main monster, appears to be inspired by vampires. It resides in a crumbling castle and only emerges at night.

In the first teaser trailer, it can be seen biting the neck of a Rathalos. Lunagaron, the second new monster, is a dog-like Fanged Wyvern that turns into a werewolf-like creature when exposed to the light of a full moon.

The Shogun Ceanataur is the only returning monster that has been verified thus far. This is a massive crab monster that first appeared in Monster Hunter 2 on PlayStation 2. It strikes with razor-sharp claws and occasionally utilizes the skulls of other monsters as a shell, such as Gravios.

Will Multiplayer Be Available?

You may play four-player online co-op with your buddies, just like in the original game. Village Quests and Hub Quests are the two types of quests in Monster Hunter Rise.

Village Quests are quests that can only be completed offline and are part of the game’s narrative mode. Hub Quests, on the other hand, are where you can play with your friends online, but they can also be performed solo and offline.

The complexity of Hub Quests is proportional to the number of players present during a search. In a quest with two players, for example, the monster will have greater health than when there is only one player.

In multiplayer hunts, Monster Hunter Rise lets players bring an NPC ally with them. A Palamute, a large dog that can assist you to travel quicker, or a Palico, a humanoid cat that can set traps or heal the group.

Is There a Bonus for Pre-ordering?

At this time, no pre-order bonuses have been disclosed.

Will It Support Pc and Console Cross-platform Play?

Capcom has announced on Twitter that the PC versions of Monster Hunter Rise and Sunbreak will not support cross-platform play or save data with the Nintendo Switch version.

It is aware, though, of the increasing need for cross-play functionality in Monster Hunter games. As a result, future Monster Hunter games are likely to have cross-play functionality.

Will Monster Hunter: Rise of the Tomb Raider or Monster Hunter: Sunbreak Ever Is Released on Xbox?

Capcom has not confirmed or denied the idea of Monster Hunter Rise and its expansion Sunbreak coming to the Xbox. According to an interview with

Gamesradar, user input was one of the motivations in Monster Hunter Rise having a PC port (along with the success of the PC version of Monster Hunter World).

This indicates that if there is enough demand, Monster Hunter Rise and Sunbreak might be transferred to the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
