Aggretsuko is an anime series based on the character created by Yeti from ‘Aggretsuko’ which is an original net animation (popularly called web anime in Japan). The first season of the comedy-anime series was released by Netflix back on April 20, 2018, with a total of ten episodes.
The series was praised by both the audience as well as critics and has an IMDB rating of 8 out of 10 and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and these indicate the popularity of the show.
The second and third seasons of the series came out on June 14, 2019, and August 27, 2020, respectively, and consisted of ten episodes in both seasons. The fourth season of the series was released on December 16, 2021, on Netflix with the same number of episodes as previous seasons with each episode with a runtime of 15-25 minutes. The series was directed and written by Rarecho.
Fans are eagerly waiting to know about the renewal of the series for its fifth season and many more. Here’s what we know so far about it.
Aggretsuko Season 5 Release Date
In the last episode of the fourth season, the makers left a message in the post-credits scene, which mentioned, “Retsuko will return,” hence making it official that the series will have renewal for another season.
The renewal does not come as surprising at all, given Netflix has invested immensely in animation in the past few years and the truth that ‘Aggretsuko’ has always gotten an amazing response from its fans is the reason behind the excellent ratings of the series in every season.
Initially, each season of the series has been rolled out in an average time gap of fourteen months following the initial premiere of the previous season. Even amidst the pandemic when filming was immensely hit, the comedy anime continued to be consistent with its release pattern. Presuming that will be the case with the latest season too, ‘Aggretsuko’ season five will hit the streaming giant sometime in early 2023.
Aggretsuko Season 5 Cast
There is no official announcement made yet about the cast who will be joining the fifth season of Aggretsuko but it’s probably safe to assume that all the main cast will be returning to reprise their roles. Erica Mendez, who is dubbed Retsuko, will possibly return in the renewed season together with some of the other voice artists, that includes Ben Diskin, G.K. Bowes, Tara Platt, and more. Here are the few names that we will see:
- Retsuko voiced by Erica Mendez,
- Director Ton voiced by Josh Petersdorf
- Fenneko voiced by Katelyn Gault
- Haida voiced by Ben Diskin
- Director Gori voiced by G.K. Bowes
- Ms. Washimi voiced by Tara Platt

- Komiya voiced by Todd Haberkorn
- Tsubone voiced by Debra Cardona
- Kabae voiced by Misty Lee

It will surely become very fascinating to watch what new and known voices turn up in Aggretsuko season 5.
Aggretsuko Season 5 Expected Plot
We can expect the fifth season to pick up from where we left in the last season. So, let’s take a dig into the events that happened in season 4.
The show primarily revolves around Retsuko and Haida’s fading relationship. The former continues to be quite skeptical regarding the latter’s obscure insecurities, but despite their differences, the main lead comforted him when he needed it the most.
However, things retake a turn for the worse at the end of the season when Haida gets criticized by Retsuko following her and her friend gathering evidence of deception. Soon, Haida confesses his engagement justifying Retsuko’s moves.
Whilst the fourth season focuses on the deteriorating relationship of the main lead and Haida, we can believe things will get back on track for both of them when the show gets renewed for season 5.
But Retsuko’s colleague will continue to provide her with a tough time whilst she turns up with new methods to cope with the unforgivable sexism. Whilst it is difficult to say how exactly things will appear in the fifth season, fans can be sure that the series will be as amazing and thrilling as it has always been.
