Portal: Nintendo Switch Will Get a Companion Collection Later This Year

Yes, you heard it right!! Valve Software has recently announced that they are releasing two of valve’s classic games on Nintendo Switch later this year. The Nintendo Switch, also known as NX,  is a video game system created by Nintendo that was released globally on 3 March 2017.

The console is a tablet that can be placed at your home and used as a home console or as a portable device that can be taken anywhere, making it a blended console. The software on the Nintendo Switch supports online gaming through Internet, as well as connects it to other consoles through local wireless connections.

Portal 1 and Portal 2 will be available for the Nintendo Switch by the end of this year as part of Portal: Companion Collection which will nearly cost 20 dollars. As announced during the Nintendo Switch presentation, both the portals will be released in 2022.

Valve created and published Portal, a puzzle-platform game, in 2007. It was released as part of a bundle called The Orange Box for Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. It has also been transferred to other platforms such as Mac OS X, Linux, Android through Nvidia Shield, and Nintendo Switch.

Portal is a set of puzzles that must be solved by transporting the player’s character and simple objects using “the Aperture Science Handheld Device,” a device capable of creating a connection between two Portals.

Chell, the main character, is challenged by GLaDOS  (Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System), an artificial intelligence, to finish each puzzle by completing all the tasks, with the promise of cake if all of the puzzles are solved.

Though It was criticized for its small duration and limited story, Portal was loved by many gamers and was regarded among the most original games of 2007. It was praised for its gameplay, uniqueness, and humorous dialogues with a dark story.

After being praised by many, Portal was renewed for a sequel in 2011. It came up with several new features like tractor beams, lasers, light bridges, improved gameplay mode, and a cooperative multiplayer mode.

Many articles and critics have regarded Portal 2 as one of the greatest video games of all time. It was praised for its gameplay, duration, dark humor, the combination of characters and voice acting of McLain, Merchant, and Simmons. 

After getting praised and criticized for several reasons in the past, valve software has recently announced on its official Twitter account that Portal and Portal 2 are coming back, but now as a part of Portal: Companion Collection. The Portal: Companion Collection

Portal: Companion Collection is a collection that includes both Portal and Portal 2 and is set to be released digitally on the Nintendo Switch through the Nintendo eShop for US 19.99 dollars. During a Nintendo Direct presentation on February 9, 2022,  It was revealed that the collection will be released in November or December of 2022.

Valve Corporation created it in collaboration with Nvidia Lightspeed Studios (an American MNC, incorporated in Delaware, which deals in designing graphics for the gaming industry)

Other announcements which were made during the Nintendo Switch presentation were about No Man’s Sky, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and Earthbound and Earthbound Beginning. So be ready to think and experience something really fun this year.
