March 2020 was just the beginning of the pandemic and it is still continuing. President Joe Biden vouches that the US is now “moving forward safely” while addressing the State union during Tuesday night. With his speech, he has shared an optimistic outlook towards dealing with the adversities of the virus in the upcoming times.
His words were,
“I know some are talking about ‘living with COVID-19.’ Tonight, I say that we will never just accept living with COVID-19.”
The statement was passed to his chamber. None were wearing masks because the restrictions on masking requirements were uplifted after the speech was made on Capitol Hill. As per the guidelines provided by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, the agency is recommending people to wear a mask whenever they are inside with a mass gathering.
Did the Daily Cases Reduce?
Yes, after a good fight with the omicron variant that had eventually led to the huge surge, there have been heavy signs of progress in the situation. In early 2022, the hospitalization rates were higher than but currently, the numbers have come down. As of now, 1,800 Americans are dying on average due to the virus and mainly because many Americans are still unvaccinated.
The US President commented that the world is slowly entering an endemic situation. But after a lot of holdbacks and restrictions, everyone is getting to normalcy.
He commented, “COVID-19 need no longer control our lives.”
The Future Plan of the White House
As for the upcoming situation, The White House is supposed to announce a new plan that will be focusing on the Covid-19 response for the future. The announcement will be made on Wednesday morning. As a matter of fact, the initial layout has already been decided by Biden and the plan will be chalked out accordingly.
Now that the vaccines are readily available and schools, as well as workplaces, are resuming, the US government is also planning to expand help to different countries. They are even promoting vaccination for a healthy lifestyle.
The White House official said,
“For the past six to eight weeks we’ve been meeting with outside public health officials, governors, and getting all of their inputs.”
So, the government will ensure that the citizens have taken the fourth shot to further stay protected. Also, new preventative measures will be launched for taking precautions against any new variant in the future.
They will be sending out antiviral drugs to many pharmacy clinics as well as supermarket pharmacies around the US. 1 million pills are planned for March and it will be around double in April.
Biden was seen sharing a positive outlook. Back in December, the president was heavily criticized for not speeding up the rapid test process and even for the insufficient supply of N95 masks.
He also mentioned that the government is fresh to provide new vaccines in just 100 days in case there is a new variant threat. Plus, he is also looking forward to stockpiling certain essentials such as masks, antiviral pills, tests, etc if Congress is willing to provide funds.
“I cannot promise a new variant won’t come, but I can promise you we’ll do everything within our power to be ready if it does,” Biden boldly announced.
He also took the opportunity to address the concerns of Americans who do not want to get vaccinated and said, “We know how incredibly effective vaccines are. If you’re vaccinated and boosted, you have the highest degree of protection. We will never give up on vaccinating more Americans.”
However, it may take more than just words to take care of the unvaccinated group of people. Many experts have shared their views and Dr. Jennifer Nuzzo said, “I think masks remain an important tool, and I think that we should continue to avail ourselves of the benefits of masks.” But after hearing Biden’s optimistic remarks, the world is looking forward to a brighter tomorrow.
