1883 has yet to wrap out its first season, as the Duttons under the leadership of John Dutton’s great-grandfather James continue their journey west from Texas, but there are already hints that more episodes are on the way. Here are all updates regarding 1883 Season 2.
ViacomCBS, the media giant that owns Paramount Plus and will soon rebrand as “Paramount,” revealed this week during its investor day that 1883 has been renewed for a second season and that fresh episodes will be made available on streaming services like Netflix.
In addition, the studio announced that it had ordered a second prequel series to Yellowstone, dubbed 1932, which will continue the story of the Duttons. Involvement by the Yellowstone and 1883 inventor Taylor Sheridan is plausible; the extent of his involvement is, however, uncertain.
As a child in 1883, John Dutton’s grandfather and his own son, John Dutton’s father, will be the focus of the Dutton family’s tale in 1932. John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) grandpa, James (Tim McGraw), and his mother, Margaret (Margaret O’Brien), arrive in Montana in future episodes of 1883. (Faith Hill).

It’s clear from the last episode of Yellowstone that James first sets foot on what will eventually become Yellowstone National Park. In a flashback scene from 1893, when John (John Dutton I.) is a teenager, he converses with one of the tribes of Native Americans he encounters along the route.
