Even though Walt’s tale was finished up in season 5 (SPOILER ALERT!), the rest of the saga continued. It wasn’t until years later that Breaking Bad writer Vince Gilligan wrote and directed the widely anticipated movie El Camino, which follows Jesse beyond season 5. It’s nearly like the sixth season of Breaking Bad, running for about two hours without commercials.
It was amusing to see El Camino premiere on Netflix instead of AMC, but it was a tribute to the fact that Breaking Bad became a hit on the streaming service. People who had heard good things about the show started watching older episodes on Netflix before the new seasons started airing on AMC.
Instead of Breaking Bad’s season 6, AMC commissioned a spinoff series called Better Call Saul. Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk, is the star of the spin-off, which premiered in the second season of the original program. The show is presently in its fifth season and follows Saul in the years prior to the Breaking Bad storyline.
The flash-forwards in Better Call Saul and the spinoff film El Camino serve as bits and pieces of what would have been Breaking Bad season 6. But there are still many characters whose fates we don’t know: For example, what happened to Walt Jr and Skyler? Presumably, they led much quieter lives after losing their father and husband, and thus their stories do not need to be checked.
Breaking Bad season 6 is hinted at in the flashbacks in Better Call Saul and the El Camino spinoff. While many of the characters’ fates are unknown, there are still a few that we do know: What becomes of Walt Jr. and Skyler, for example? After the deaths of their father and spouse, it’s safe to assume that they went back to a more sedate way of life.
Breaking Bad Season 6 Release Date
At least for the time being, there will be no more meth production in the middle of the desert. When Better Call Saul’s Season 6 premiere was held Thursday night in Hollywood, the show’s co-creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould uttered these words: AMC will air the final season on April 18.

Breaking Bad Season 6 Plot
When chemistry instructor Walter White is struck with Stage III cancer and given only two years to live, he thinks he has nothing to lose. In New Mexico, he and his wife raise their cerebral palsy-afflicted adolescent son. Determined to ensure that his family will have a stable future, Walt embarks on a career of drugs and crime. He quickly establishes himself as an expert in this new field by working with one of his former students to produce and sell methamphetamine.
The series examines the repercussions of a terminal diagnosis on a typical, hard-working man, and analyses how a fatal diagnosis alters his morality and converts him into a significant participant in the drug trade. The Breaking Bad series was so great that everyone is wondering when there would be a Breaking Bad season 6. AMC is now showing their prequel/sequel series Better Call Saul, and with one more season to go, it’s unlikely that Breaking Bad season 6 would premiere before then.
Season 6 of Breaking Bad may premiere in the future if Vince Gilligan gets inspired to do so. For now, we have Better Call Saul and El Camino to enjoy. As major fans of this realm, we’re very happy that there have been two massive offshoot ventures to date. And who knows, maybe more are set for the future! And if we’re ever missing the core Breaking Bad tale, luckily we can dive into the series in 4K resolution on Netflix.
