In the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the Boston Celtics defeated the Brooklyn Nets, 116-112, to complete a sweep of their first-round series. After losing to the Nets in a five-game series last year, Boston responded with a series victory against Brooklyn.
Before fouling out with 2:48 left in the game, Celtics star Jayson Tatum scored 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field. With 1:28 left, Brooklyn cut it to one point thanks to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant’s three-pointers. But Jaylen Brown’s three points and Marcus Smart’s free throws helped Boston to a victory in the end.

Y’all thought I was laughing at the nets getting swept? I’m a little more blatant than that. Y’all can at least give me credit for that 😂😂😂

39 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists were Durant’s final totals. After 30 playoff series, this was the first time Durant’s team was wiped out. That defeat marked Irving’s first-ever exit in the first round of a tournament. In the end, he scored 20 points.
By signing an extension, Irving said, “I don’t intend to leave New Jersey.” “I’ve been recognized for my greatness, but at this point, I really just want to be a part of a great team. “

“I didn’t want to let the team down at a time when I couldn’t play. Despite our best efforts, I was wary of making the show solely about me. “At times, it became a nuisance.”
As a result, the Nets were without the services of guard/forward Ben Simmons. If he was able to continue his back rehabilitation process, he was expected to play in the game, according to an article in The Athletic last week.

Even if the series ended in a loss for the Nets, head coach Steve Nash expressed his desire to stay in his position. “I’ve had a great time working on this.” I enjoyed working with them and my coworkers; it was a positive work environment that I intend to maintain.

Following the game, both Durant and Irving expressed their admiration for Nash and his contributions to the team. According to Durant, Steve has been dealt a “crazy hand” over the last two years. “As a first-time coach, he had a lot to deal with: trades, injuries, COVID, and a whole host of other issues. The way he devotes himself to us makes me proud. As the summer progresses, “we’ll all see what happens!”
The lie detector determined that was a lie 😵💫
