In February of 2022, while living in California, they decided to renew their lease of the Frogmore Cottage. The lease was set for expiring on 31st March.
But Prince Harry decided to renew the lease right in time to make sure they continue serving as one of the Queen’s four counselors of state. According to the Buckingham Palace, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared their wish to repay Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home”
Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, Duke of York, Prince Andrew, and Prince Harry are the current counselors of state. However, in order to continue being the counselor, it is important for Prince Harry to be “domiciled” in the UK.
Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan have stepped down from their royal duties, they have returned to the UK together only once. Besides, the Frogmore Cottage has served as the residence for the duke’s cousin, Princess Eugenie, and Jack Brooksbank, her husband.
Reports from The Sun suggest that Princess Eugenie and Jack will arrange the guests’ rooms at Frogmore Cottage. It will host Prince Harry and Meghan when they are visiting the UK. In April of 2021, Prince Harry visited the UK to attend his grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral. And during that time also, the Duke stayed in the Frogmore Cottage.

More About The Platinum Jubilee Event
While the good news is that Prince Harry and Meghan along with their children will be attending the Platinum Jubilee celebration, they will not end up appearing on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Trooping the Colour. In addition to Prince Harry, we are also going to miss Prince Andrew. He also stepped down from the public duties of the royal family back in 2019. The celebration was going to happen on the Thursday 2nd of June 2022.
Though we are going to miss the Sussexes on the balcony, they have decided to make appearances in other celebrations that are planned over the weekend to commemorate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne. It will be a four-day public holiday event. So, it will start on the 2nd of June and end on the 5th of June 2022.
