As it stands, Loki season 2 represents one of the only live-action Marvel series returns, with only What If…? outside of it having a guaranteed second season. There isn’t much information available about what’s to come outside the fact that the God of Mischief will be returning for more small-screen antics.
That’s not to say there isn’t enough out there to tide us over in the meantime, however. Marvel may like to keep things under wraps, but the studio has confirmed who will be back for round two (both in front of and behind the camera), offered updates on when filming would start, and suggested when the new episodes may potentially be published.
For our part, we’ve gathered the most compelling evidence and most compelling hypotheses in an effort to figure out what’s next for Loki, Sylvie, and the crew. All of this and more will be revealed in Loki season 2, so stay reading to learn more.

Loki Season 2 Release Date
No specific date has been set as of yet, but production will begin shortly. Marvel’s Kevin Feige gave an update on the Loki season 2 release date back in August 2021, claiming that the new season was “underway” and “being developed as we speak”, but indicated that he wasn’t sure whether filming would begin in 2022 or 2023.
Backstage reports that production was planned to begin this summer, though the report offers no other confirmation. Shortly after, Owen Wilson confirmed his return to the series as Mobius and said that filming will commence “very soon.”

As Kang the Conqueror was originally presented at the first season’s end, there has been conjecture that the new season may premiere after the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Kang is the primary antagonist in Ant-Men 3, which is scheduled for release on July 28, 2023.
Loki Season 2 Cast
Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw are the only confirmed Loki season 2 cast members thus far. Mbatha-Raw already announced in an interview with GMA that she’ll be returning as Ravonna Lexus Renslayer.
Showrunner Kate Herron announced her retirement from the show, indicating that she never meant to complete a second season. “I’m really happy to watch it as a fan next season,” Herron told “I just think I’m proud of what we did here and I’ve given it my all.”
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have joined on as directors. According to Sources, they will “co-direct a bulk of the episodes for season two.” The team most recently directed two episodes of the Marvel series, Moon Knight, which stars Oscar Isaac as a superhero who suffers from a dissociative identity disorder.

There are already plans for a second season by writers Michael Waldron and Eric Martin from season one.
What About the Plot of Loki Season 2?
The Loki season 2 plot is being kept under wraps. Hiddleston (via Marvel) first indicated that he was “excited about the possibilities” and that the team was in “deep, deep, deep discussions” following the announcement of Loki Season 2 – but the actor kept a tight lip since.
Mbatha-Raw told Popculture.com that she’s excited for her character to go to “some deeper, darker realms.” Ravonna Renslayer was initially portrayed as an anti-hero of sorts and prospective love interest of Mobius but was finally shown as a villain who puts her devotion to the TVA above anything else.
The season finale saw Ravonna set off on her own in pursuit of free will. “She wants to [find] who pulled the wool over her eyes. That’s what she’s going to go out in search of,” head writer Michael Waldron commented. “She is a scary customer to be out there in the Multiverse. So we’ll see what happens.”

In addition, Sylvie, a Loki’s clone and romantic interest, sent Loki to another dimension so that she might finally kill He Who Remains. The assassination fails to match her expectations, and she is left alone in the Citadel at the End of Time.
Sylvie’s closing moment is “an exciting location to start another story,” according to Sophia Di Martino, who told RadioTimes she isn’t sure whether or not her character will return.
Just recently, Hiddleston was questioned whether Loki features in the next Marvel movie Thor: Love and Thunder, to which he remained reasonably vague. Total Film reported that the actor described his state of mind as one of “living in a question mark. “It’s all unknown. You know, I used to think that I could foresee these things, but I literally have no idea. And I’m not even doing an Andrew Garfield!”
When quizzed about Loki season 2, he added: “What can I say? It’s very much continuing to excite and challenge me. At the end of season 1, the story isn’t over. I think that’s really clear. Loki’s almost more unstable and as turbulent and passionate and chaotic as he’s ever been. And maybe some of that needs resolution. There’s stuff to unpack.”
Theories About Loki Season 2
Because the first season ended in complete mayhem, Loki season 2 ideas are abounding. Sylvie sparked off a multiverse war, Loki is stranded in another realm, and an even more terrifying variation of He Who Remains has taken to power.
In the new timeline that Loki finds himself bound in, a statue of Kang The Conqueror is present. There is a strong possibility that Kang, a He Who Remains incarnation, has risen to the position of TVA head.
Nerdist theorizes on Loki Season 2 that, while Mobius and Hunter B-15 don’t recall Loki in this timeline, Sylvie could. Given that Sylvie was the one who killed He Who Remains and then sent Loki to this alternate universe, this is a possibility.
A theory speculates that in Loki Season 2 Ravonna might become the next love interest of Kang, considering her character portrays his lover in the comics. For more such content do follow us only on leedaily.com
