Later today, it’s Google IO 2022, and we may or may not get a glimpse of the Google Pixel 6a at the event. Even if you can’t make it this year, we recommend checking out how to watch Google IO 2022 or keeping an eye on our Google IO live blog for updates.
Regardless of whether or not we see the Pixel 6a, Google fans can look forward to the Pixel Watch and Android 13 making an appearance.
In the past, Google has made A-series phones for all of its main-series devices, but their release dates have been erratic. Consider the Pixel 5a, an entry-level Pixel 5 model that was released months later and only in select markets.
While the Google Pixel 6a’s name and design have yet to be confirmed (though Google has mentioned it in a coloring book), we’re beginning to get an idea of what to expect from the device thanks to leaks of its specifications and features.

Google Pixel 6a Release Date and Price
Google Pixel 6a was unveiled at Google IO 2022. The earliest widespread speculation about the Pixel 6a’s release date stated that it would arrive in 2022. A well-known leaker of smartphone information, Max Jambor, claims that the device will be available in June or July.
Both the Google Pixel 5a and the Pixel 4a were announced in August of this year. As a result, we can expect Google to delay the debut of the Pixel 7 until later in the year, rather than wait until the end of 2022.

The Pixel 5a was only available in the United States and Japan, so Google may be looking to release a more generally available mid-range variant in the future.
In keeping with Google IO 2022, when the CEO teased new products at the keynote address, this would make sense. The Pixel 3a was first announced at Google IO back in 2015, so the timing isn’t out of character.
In addition, the Pixel 6a has been found on an inventory list of a US carrier, which signals it will be released soon, as does a leaked image of a retail box and the report that the phone has been put into manufacturing.
According to some other sources, the phone’s release date could be delayed until July 28 because of a global chip shortage. The release date of the Google Pixel 6a appears to be uncertain.
What we do know so far is that a price of $449 (about £325 / AU$610) for the Pixel 5a and $499 (approximately £499) for the Pixel 4a 5G would be a reasonable guess.
Google Pixel 6a Display and Design
OnLeaks and 91Mobiles have provided unauthorized renders of the Google Pixel 6a, which give us a solid sense of what the phone will look like. You can see some of them in the images below, and the design here will look very similar if what you’ve seen in the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.
A dual-lens camera is presented on the back of the phone is a huge horizontal camera block. Additionally, a flat-screen, punch-hole camera and three-tone color scheme are all included.
On the right side, you’ll find the power and volume controls, while the bottom has a USB-C port and speaker and microphone grilles. There’s no headphone jack on this device.
It’s been reported that the Google Pixel 6A features a glass back and measures 152.2 x 71.8 x 8.7 millimeters, according to the source (or 10.4mm including the rear camera bump). Because of its smaller OLED display (6.2 inches instead of 6.5 inches), it would be smaller than the Pixel 6.
Below, you may see a claimed metal dummy unit of the Pixel 6a. It’s not obvious where this particular dummy unit came from, but accessory companies and the like sometimes use dummy units to assist design things before a phone’s launch.
The identical design may be seen below on a leaked retail box. The two-tone color scheme of earlier leaks has been replaced by a single color, so we’d take this with a grain of salt.
According to a listing on a US carrier’s inventory system, the Pixel 6a is available in black, white, and green colors.
Google Pixel 6a Camera and Battery
Code in the Google Camera app implies that the Google Pixel 6a will use the same 12.2MP main camera as the Pixel 5a – and most other Pixels before the Pixel 6 – but this phone’s design is likely to be similar to the rest of the Pixel 6 range.
Instead of the 50MP sensor used on the most recent versions, this one would be used. In any case, according to the same code, it appears to have the same 12MP ultra-wide camera as the Pixel 6 and the same camera on the back as the Pixel 3 XL.
Batteries have been revealed in a large specs leak, which we’ll discuss further in the next part. The Pixel 6a is expected to include a 4,800mAh battery and 30W fast charging, according to one report.
As a point of comparison, the Pixel 6a has a battery capacity of 4,614mAh, so the Pixel 6a may provide better battery life than the more expensive Pixel 6.
Google Pixel 6a Specifications
Code spotted in the Google Camera app hints that the Google Pixel 6a could live up to its Pixel 6 moniker if it features similar hardware and design to the other Pixel 6 phones.
If this is the case, it might be powered by a Tensor chipset, which is meant to run Live Translation and other advanced functions. Other people have told us the same thing. The 6GB of RAM and this processor have even been tested in benchmarks.
As for specs, we’ve heard that the Pixel 6a will ship with Android 12 and include an in-display fingerprint scanner, 128GB of storage, and either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. Since 5G is becoming a common feature, we would expect it to be supported as well. For more updates do follow our website leedaily.com
