Millions of American women’s constitutional rights to have an abortion were snatched by overturning the historic 1973 Roe V. Wade ruling. It has been a shame and the U.S. President, Joe Biden condemned this decision.
After dismissing the constitutional rights of women, gun rights continue to prevail. This is a day when America is mourning as the country has gone back 50 years backward.

What Does The Roe V. Wade Overturning Mean?
Back in 1969, Norma McCovey known as “Jane Roe” proceeded to sue Henry Wade who was a District attorney of Dallas County, Texas as she wanted the right “to abort her third pregnancy”. At the time of the incident, she was not married, unemployed, and did not have the means to support her child. Abortion was illegal back then. Roe gave birth to her baby in 1973 but later “the court ruled in her favor”.
The Supreme Court gave the verdict that women have the right to decide whether they will be aborting or keeping the baby. They can conduct the abortion within the first three months and the decision will be completely that of the pregnant woman and the doctor. This changed the lives of all the women as they were gifted with aborting rights and also the right to decide for their own bodies.
But after 50 years, the reversal took away the safety shield of women that was protecting them.
As per the new ban, 13 states around the mid-west and south of the US have put a complete ban on abortions. It was basically a restoration of the previous laws and Mississippi is also affected by it. With a vote of 5-4, Roe V. Wade’s ruling was reversed, changing the fate of American women.
The justices that declared the ruling which was penned down by Justice Samuel Alito clarified that U.S. Constitution has never specifically mentioned anything regarding abortion rights. In fact, the Roe V. Wade ruling “was wrongly decided”.
This change will also impact the upcoming elections that will be held in November.
However, President Biden addressed this and claimed it to be “an extreme and dangerous path. The President stated, “It’s a sad day for the court and for the country,” “The court has done what it has never done before: expressly take away a constitutional right that is so fundamental to so many Americans.”
He even urged Congress to look into the matter again and protect the women by legalizing the abortion laws.
What Can Be The Consequences Of The Roe V. Wade Ruling?
The women in 13 states are pushed towards high health risks with this ban. Women who don’t have the capability to raise a child in this economy will be forced to give birth. Moreover, women without the proper resources will be taking the aid of illegal, unsafe, and dangerous means to abort their child which can be ultimately life-threatening for them.
Many women do not have the financial capability to travel to a place where abortion is legal and get their baby aborted. Women who are going to be the victims of rape and if get pregnant, they cannot abort cause of this ban.

It was a test time for those women. With the implementation of the abortion ban, America has gone years backward and this could even impact other major rulings. The laws that are currently under threat are same-sex marriage, rights to contraception, and more.
The Gun Rights Are Still In Act
Though it has been claimed that the laws surrounding the “Guns Rights” have been strengthened, the right to carry a gun around in America is still active. In spite of hundreds of mass shootings and thousands of people dying due to these, gun rights are still protected by the law. This law “has been on the books” since 1913.
Only a few states like New York have “concealed-carry-licensing laws”. It is said that gun-safety laws are needed for self-defense and protection. The Senates protected the law by majority passing votes in support of it.
