On Monday morning, as Abby Brosio and her father-in-law stood in Highland Park, Illinois, to watch the 4th of July parade, a spray of bullets began to fall from the building right across the street. During an appearance on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday, Brosio recalled glancing around for the source of the noise. While walking across the street to my neighbor’s store, I noticed a shooter on their roof and yelled, “It’s a shooter!”
“Long hair and a gun” were the only things she saw. She was injured by a gunshot as she turned to bring her 1-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son into Gearhead Outfitters, a store operated by her husband, Tony. After a shooting at a Fourth of July parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park, Illinois, on July 4, 2022, an American flag blanket is spotted abandoned along the parade route.

Her father-in-law was shot in the leg, she said. According to authorities, a shooting spree occurred on Monday in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park, killing six people and injuring at least 24 more. An arrest has been made in the case, and the suspect is identified as 22-year-old Robert “Bobby” Crimo III.
When the shooting started, Tony Brosio was in Gearhead Outfitters. He stepped in to assist direct the crowds as they stormed the store in search of shelter. Crowds rush into the store, as shown in a video taken from within. Some stumbling, others looking back. “We were just trying to get as many people as we possibly could inside,” he told GMA on Tuesday. “Like I said, it was just instinct.”
That they were in an active shooting situation “couldn’t happen” to them, Brosio told the interviewer. His response was, “You always have that, “It could never happen here,” he explained. “It just did.” “It was like a dream. All I could say to myself was, ‘This isn’t real,'” Abby said.
When Abby and her father-in-law made it to Gearhead Outfitters, she learned they’d been shot at the same time, according to her account. A local hospital treated them and later released both, she claimed. Stay tuned with us only on Lee Daily
