In fact, the relationship between Shania’s mother and stepfather wasn’t good and was filled with violence. After not being able to tolerate it anymore, Shania’s mother drove for about 420 miles to seek help at a Toronto homeless shelter. But again, they returned back to Jerry.

Shania was just 8 years old when she started singing to support her family. She wrote her first son named “Is Love a Rose” when she was just 10 years old. Shania Twain’s net worth wasn’t exploding but she got exposure. When only 13, Twain got the chance to showcase her talent on the CBC’s “Tommy Hunter Show”. The singer even completed high school at Timmins High in 1983 and was a part of the band named Longshot.

Shania Twain’s Career

Eventually, Longshot did split and Shania Twain’s net worth along with her dreams came to an end. But she didn’t give up. The singer joined a cover band named Flirt and toured with them. Toronto DJ Stan Campbell spotted her and she went to Nashville for record demos.

Later she was introduced to regional country singer Mary Bailey who immediately recognized Twain’s potential. Shania got the opportunity to live in Bailey’s house but had one recording contract. However, she secretly started dating John Kim Bell who had a strong connection with the Canadian Country Music Association. Shania’s biggest break was at a 1987 fundraiser arranged by Bell.

But soon after that, both Shania’s mother and stepfather died after getting involved in a car accident. This led her to pause her career and the process of growing Shania Twain’s net worth as she returned home for her siblings. She also performed in Ontario at the Deerhurst Resort which later became her demo tape. Many labels loved her performance and Mercury Nashville Records did ultimately sign the talent. Her first album named “Shania Twain” (1993) wasn’t that of success but “The Woman in Me” (1995) made her an icon. In the first year only, it sold almost 12 million copies.  She won Grammys, Academy of Country Music awards, and more.

“You’ve Got a Way” was another song that did get featured on the “Notting Hill” soundtrack. Billboard announced Shania to be the “Most Played Artist on American Radio in 1999”. At this point, Shania Twain’s net worth was enough to take a break from her career. But after two years, when she first dropped the album “Up!”, she did sell over 20 million copies worldwide.
