As of this writing, the much anticipated ’97 X-Men reboot has finally been given an official release date. The reboot will premiere on Disney+ in the fall of 2023 as part of Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel on the studio’s animated projects. This will be the first X-Men picture produced by Marvel Studios after Disney acquired the film and television assets of 21st Century Fox.
Several familiar faces will be making appearances, like Rogue, Beast, and Gambit, as well as Jean Grey, Wolverine, Storm, and Jubilee. The aesthetic will be reminiscent of the 1990s, but with a more modern edge.
He appeared in a video broadcast at the panel and proclaimed, “You are staring at the new leader of the X-Men.” Forge, Morph, and Nightcrawler are among the other returning characters. The question of “Why do we still need the X-Men?” will be a significant element of the show, as well.
