More than 6,000 court documents used in the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have been unsealed. According to The Daily Beast, Heard’s team said in pre-trial documents that Depp’s defamatory statements about her cost her between $47 and $50 million over three to five years. Heard’s team also said she was “on par” as an actor with Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot, Zendaya, Ana de Armas, and Chris Pine.

Also, the newly unsealed court documents show that Heard lost “tens of millions of dollars” by not taking the money Depp made from the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie. The second movie was made while Depp and Heard were married, so it was considered “community property,” Heard was entitled to half of the money made from it.

The Daily Beast says that Depp earned $33 million from the fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie, so he probably made the same amount or even more from the fifth one. Heard didn’t take the money while she was going through her divorce, so none of the evidence from that case could be used in the defamation trial.

The Daily Beast says that the unsealed documents also show that Depp’s team fought hard to keep Marilyn Manson’s name out of the defamation trial. The team noted that “references to and evidence about Marilyn Manson” would “tarnish Mr. Depp by association.”

Heard’s team, on the other hand, asked the judge to throw out several “irrelevant personal matters” that Depp’s team was reportedly going to bring up and use against her. Heard’s team said that “Mr. Depp improperly seeks to introduce evidence” that includes “(1) naked pictures of Amber Heard; (2) Amber Heard’s sister Whitney’s reality show video; (3) Whitney and Amber’s past romantic relationships; (4) Amber’s brief stint as an exotic dancer years before she met Mr. Depp and Mr. Depp trying to frivolously and maliciously suggest or imply that Ms. Heard was at one time an escort.”

The trial for slander was over on June 1. The jury decided that Heard slandered Depp when she wrote an opinion piece for the Washington Post in 2018 that references her past claims of domestic violence and cost him $10.35 million in damages ($10 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages). Even though the jury sided more with Depp in the verdict, it still said that Depp lied about Heard to defend himself against her charges. As compensation for her counterclaim, the jury gave Heard $2 million.

Heard sent in a notice of appeal at the beginning of this month.
