As of mid-July 2022, Tami Roman is set to host the new VHI show Caught In The Act: UNFAITHFUL. Roman’s appearance on the show will draw further attention, which, unfortunately, will arouse criticism of her physique. Almost a decade ago, Roman was constantly asked about her weight and figure.
Commenters have expressed fear that she may be ill because she appears to be in such a state of dehydration. It’s not just on social media where the comments are being made: When Evelyn Lozada, Roman’s co-star in Basketball Wives, saw him on set, she called him out for looking “like a crackhead.”
Tami Roman’s health has been the subject of many speculations. This article sets the record straight.

Tami Roman had a minor heart attack in 2012
In March 2012, Tami Roman had a small heart attack that prompted concerns about her health. As her publicist stated, she was sent to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center due to a medical emergency, according to the statement.
The release added: “She has since been released and would like to let her fans and supporters know she is doing fine and looks forward to resuming her scheduled engagements.”
The night before Roman was admitted to the hospital, according to VH1, she appeared ill. There were no signs of a heart attack in Roman’s tweets, despite her claiming to be “not feeling so well.” After being released from the hospital, Tami tweeted:
“Thx 2every 1 for the get well wishes. Never thought I’d have a mild heart attack at 41. God has a way of bringing things into perspective. Finally going home 2my kids- heart meds and all.”
Roman also mentioned that she’d take a break from social media to focus on recovery: “I’m off twitter 4 awhile, no stress recovery, but I appreciate ALL the positive energy & the negative 1’s-get a life – I sure appreciate mine.”

Five years later, Tami’s small heart attack reappeared as her health concerns intensified. With a tweet, Roman assured her supporters that her health issues were behind her:
“So apparently I had a heart attack AND DIDN’T KNOW. I’m fine, beautiful ppl – that was years ago! A mild one but yo girl is FINE.”
Roman lost weight after getting type 2 diabetes in 2014
Roman had to go back to the hospital two years after his first heart attack. When Tami’s daughter discovered Roman unconscious in the family’s Houston home, she dialed 911. Doctors have determined that the reality star’s collapse was caused by diabetic shock and dehydration. Tami was admitted to the hospital in the morning and was released in the afternoon.
Roman weighed 185 pounds when she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. She’d had liposuction done in 2011 but had regained the weight over the course of the following years. Roman began a supplement, diet, and exercise plan that resulted in a 30-pound weight loss in a matter of weeks following her diagnosis. NV Clinical helped her reduce the pounds without a lot of worries according to Shape.
“I lost seven pounds in the first week of taking NV without making any major changes to my life,” Roman said. However, some of Tami’s supporters argued that she had gotten ‘too skinny’ as a result of her weight reduction.
Following Tami’s Instagram rebuttal, the internet learned that she needed to drop weight for her own health. She wrote:
“I didn’t lose weight, I lost my willingness to die. DIABETES IS NO JOKE! I Detox, suppress my appetite and make better food choices. So enjoy yourself laughing, leaving negative comments & calling me a “crackhead”… but I have two beautiful daughters and I’m gon’ live for them by ANY means necessary.”
When asked about her weight loss in 2018, Roman said it was due to her diabetes, not because she was trying to slim down. Tami revealed to Jackie Christie:
“I’m a diabetic, okay? So for me my weight is very serious. I finally decided to take charge of my fucking life so that I can live for my kids and my man, and so because of that I lose weight. I’m 48 years old. You know what I’m saying? So this is how my body reacts to me making proper choices with my diet.”
Tami has had body dysmorphia since her teens
Tami Roman, who appeared on The Real in November 2021, spoke candidly about her lifelong struggle with body dysmorphic disorder. Roman revealed that she’d been struggling with the disorder since a tragic event in her adolescence.
It was at the age of 13, when Tami was eagerly eyeing a modeling career in New York City, that she met a modeling agency who was brutally critical of her 5’9″ stature and weight of under 120 pounds.
Roman made the following comment:
“She literally stood me in front of a mirror and said, ‘You’ve got back folds. You’ve got fat over your knees. You need to do something with your chin. Your breasts are sagging. And I went home that night and from that moment, every time I looked at myself in the mirror I could find something wrong with myself.”
Roman claimed that after that moment, she was unable to look in the mirror without seeing problems in her appearance, whether they were real or imagined. She worked hard to keep her weight down since she believed she couldn’t be a successful model if she wasn’t thin. Tami went on to say:
“I started doing everything I could think of to do to be as skinny as I could possibly be, being obsessive about my weight loss. People don’t realize, that’s why I got my mouth wired in 1993, to be skinny when I was already skinny.”
Three decades later, Tami is still dealing with the effects of her disease. Commenters on social media who criticize Ronan’s appearance encourage her to slim down even more. In her mind, the trolling attempts are a confirmation of her efforts to lose weight. As Tami explained,
“They leave negative comments, but for me, my mind has such a warped sense of perception, it’s a compliment. ‘Tammy, you look too frail. Tammy, you look like a bobblehead. Tammy, you look skinny.’ In my mind, that goes, ‘Well, I’m on the right track! I’m getting skinny!’ And then I don’t know when to stop.”
