Amber Heard’s lawyers say Johnny Depp has erectile dysfunction, which may have made him more likely to rape his ex-wife with a bottle.
We have just found out that Heard’s team brought up the impotence claim in a March 28 motion about embarrassing evidence they wanted to show at the live-streamed defamation trial in Virginia that started the next month.
“Mr. Depp would rather not talk about his erectile dysfunction, but it has everything to do with Mr. Depp’s anger and use of a bottle to rape Amber Heard,” wrote Heard’s lead attorney, Elaine Bredehoft.
Heard, who is 36 years old, said in court that Depp, who is 59, pierced her with a Maker’s Mark bottle while high on drugs in 2015. This happened in Australia, where Depp was filming the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie.

During what she called a “three-day hostage situation,” the “Aquaman” actress cried hysterically as she told the jury that Depp had dragged her across a floor of broken glass, bent her over a bar, and repeatedly pushed the bottle into her.
“I was afraid he was going to hit me. I could feel this force. I could feel this on my pubic bone, “she told the Virginia court in Fairfax County. “I didn’t know if the bottle he put in me was broken.”
Heard didn’t go to the hospital after the alleged attack.
“Mr. Depp’s erectile dysfunction makes it more likely that he would get angry or upset with Amber Heard and drink,” Bredehoft wrote in the motion. He also said that Depp took Cialis pills for his impotence.
Depp’s lawyer said that the trial’s attempt to show records about the condition was “nothing but pure harassment.”
The unsealed court papers also included a deposition Heard gave, in which she said that Depp sexually assaulted her when he got angry because he couldn’t step up in the bedroom.

“He couldn’t get an erection and be mad at me simultaneously,” she said. “I call it “angry sex,” and Johnny couldn’t do it thoroughly. He would throw me on the bed, which he did more than once, and force himself on me in a mean way.
Depp has vehemently denied ever hurting a woman physically or sexually.
In the end, Judge Penney Azcarate didn’t let the jury hear about Depp’s medical condition, but they did see a medical record that said Cialis was one of the actor’s medicines.
On July 13, about six weeks after a jury gave Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, Azcarate ordered many court papers to be made public.
Azcarate cut the number of punitive damages to $350,000, which is the most that Virginia law will allow.
The panel didn’t believe Heard’s claims that Depp had sexually and physically abused her many times. Instead, they said that the “London Fields” actress had slandered him by calling herself a victim of domestic abuse in an opinion piece for the Washington Post.
The seven-person jury gave Heard a slight break by giving her $2 million for one claim in her countersuit, but the verdict was a big win for Depp overall.
