Starting with the story, Lyle and Erik Menendez were rich 21 and 18-years old lads who killed their parents, Jose and Kitty Mendez. But that isn’t the full truth. It was proven that Lyle and Erik have been traumatized after enduring lifelong physical and emotional abuse from their parents. It has been claimed that the brothers were sexually abused by their father on multiple occasions. Besides, they were expected to be emotionally unavailable to their feelings and were beaten. As a matter of fact, the brothers’ relatives also came in support of them during the trial. They testified that the brothers were sexually abused.

The brothers shot their parents back in their luxurious Beverly Hill mansion. Later, they called the police to notify the authorities, however, they didn’t confess their crime. Once the funeral was over, both of them relocated from their home. But suspicions were aroused when they kept spending all the money on luxurious travels, premium hotel stays, purchasing over-the-top watches and clothes, cars, unlimited parties, and everything that their hearts desire.

Even after six months after their parent’s murder, the Menendez brothers kept living the lavish lifestyle. Everything was going fine until the therapy sessions began and Erik confided to the therapist about the heinous crime that they did. Without spending any time, the police received a tip, and then the brothers were arrested by the authorities.

Though it was argued time and again that the Menendez brothers killed their parents due to the trauma and abuse they were suffering from, the prosecutors established the fact that it was because of “financial gain and inheritance”.

It was quite disturbing to watch the trial even. The lawyers representing the brothers include the videos to prove the truth to the boys’ narratives. Lyle, who was the eldest one revealed shocking details about their father. “He used objects … a toothbrush and some sort of shaving utensil brush. He’d r*pe me.”

The brothers were first charged with murder on 7th December 1992 and the third jury finally found them guilty on 7th April 1996.
