La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid advanced to another European final, and they won. On Wednesday, Madrid won their fifth UEFA Super Cup by defeating Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in 2022. In the 37th minute, Madrid took the lead on a goal by David Alaba. Alaba scored with his dominant foot after two headers and put him in front of a goal after a corner kick.
It took until the 65th minute when a trusted scorer returned to give Madrid the lead. Karim Benzema scored for Los Blancos from inside the penalty area after being named captain for the first time since joining the squad in 2009. With this strike, Benzema overtook Ral as Madrid’s all-time number two in goals scored. There is no one with more than Cristiano Ronaldo.
