The Nashville police have confirmed to Variety that Michelle Branch was arrested for domestic abuse. Branch’s arrest occurred after she publicly announced her separation from Patrick Carney, the drummer for “The Black Keys,” after three years of marriage. Court filings showed that Branch had smacked Carney “one to two times,” as first reported by TMZ.
The judge ruled that $1,000 would be sufficient to release Branch on bond. In 2019, Branch tied the knot with Carney. Branch told TMZ about the breakup in a statement: “To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and my family.

The best-selling albums “The Spirit Room” and “Hotel Paper” propelled Branch to stardom as a singer-songwriter in the early 2000s. This year marks the 20th anniversary of her breakthrough track “Everywhere,” which appeared on her debut album.
In 2022, Branch and Santana released a duet named “The Game of Love,” which went on to win a Grammy for best pop collaboration with vocals.
