Is She-Hulk Gay? Tatiana Maslany, the star of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, has discussed how the late transgender icon Sophie influenced her portrayal of the green-skinned superhero. A climbing mishap in Greece claimed the life of experimental pop musician and Grammy-nominated producer Sophie last year at the age of 34.
Maslany, who portrays She-Hulk in the upcoming Disney+ series, said to Variety that Sophie “simply lives musically in this area that I always want to live in,” adding that there is a poppiness and femininity mixed with these conflicting industrial noises. Maslany portrays Jennifer Walters, a human lawyer who transforms into She-Hulk, in the television series. How she manages her changing body is the main subject of the show.
She said, “Her song video ‘Faceshopping’ was all about skin, the commodification of the body, and being separated into different pieces, and that all felt conceptually and spiritually connected.” Sophie’s music, she said, “reflects this struggle.” Tatiana Maslany appeared during the new series’ promotion as a trans ally. Maslany was seen in a She-Hulk promotional film from Marvel in July sporting a cropped sweatshirt that read “Support Trans Futures.”
When asked why she chose to wear the hoodie, she told the Los Angeles Times: “I’m conscious of the impact that pictures like that may have, and I’m aware that Disney has been linked to Florida legislation that has been passed that is anti-LGBTQ. “I am aware of how little it costs me to carry out that action. I feel privileged and lucky to have the platform I do.

“And I’m a huge supporter of those working for LGBTQ rights locally. I value that community greatly, therefore I will continue to express my allegiance in whatever manner I can.
