Kanye West & Kid Cudi’s Relationship has been tumultuous throughout their respective careers. The regular collaborators have occasionally been friends, performing and dining together, and occasionally they have criticized one another online. In 2008, Cudi joined West’s G.O.O.D. Music label after the two had first met a few years previously.
Then, West made an appearance on Cudi’s single “Make Her Say (I Poke Her Face)” from his 2009 album Man on the Moon: The End of Day, which served as the foundation for Cudi’s G.O.O.D. career. Before releasing his solo music, Cudi had also contributed to West’s 808s & Heartbreak and Jay-The Z’s Blueprint 3.
The two artists also collaborated on the songs “Erase Me” from the 2010 album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, “Gorgeous” and “All of the Lights” from Ye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and more recently, “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” from the 2016 album The Life of Pablo, which won Ye a Grammy for 24 times.
But it’s safe to say that we won’t be seeing these two on stage any time soon based on their more recently social media interactions. A timeline of the high points and low points of Cudi and Kanye’s relationship can be found below.
April 2, 2013: Kid Cudi Leaves Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music
Cudi declared on Power 106 in Los Angeles on April 2, 2013, that he was leaving the G.O.O.D. organization. At the time, Cudi remarked, “Man, everything is cool.” “Everyone on the label is at peace with everything. Although there have never been any problems, I am now leaving G.O.O.D. Music. Furthermore, no one knows this. I have left G.O.O.D. Music.

Cudi continued, saying that it was a difficult choice because he thought of West as a “big brother.” Cudi made that statement as he informed West over the phone that he wanted to follow his path (with Wicked Awesome Records). He too wanted to go in his route, so Ye got it.
Feb. 27, 2014: Cudi Says He’s Unhappy With Feature On Yeezus
Cudi was shocked to hear his voice on “Guilt Trip,” of West’s 2013 Yeezus album, after leaving G.O.O.D. Music. Cudi was questioned by Complex’s Joe La Puma about his understated “Guilt Trip” outro feature.
“The vocal I performed for that song was from a few years ago. It was only a reference, and I can’t remember which session it was, Cudi told the outlet. “I found out I was in the song on Twitter. What the f-k is everyone talking about, I thought as I saw kids approaching me and asking, “Are you on ‘Guilt Trip!’?” or “Great work!” I then log into Twitter, hear the tune, and say, “OK.” I am a beatnik. I recognize the tune. After that, I think, “Oh man, OK.” I admit that I felt a little flattered and thought it was cool that he thought of me.
“I then began to consider it more. Why not phone me and ask me to deliver it there instead? Why not use me more? Why include four bars of vocals to trick my fans into thinking Kid Cudi is featured on this song when he isn’t?
Sept. 14, 2016: Cudi Slams West, Ye Responds
Kid Cudi decided to say everything in a Twitter flurry. Cudi rants about strife in the hip-hop scene in a series of messages. West was one of the people he mentioned.
I need you to know that the music industry is full of haters, and they know that I’m about to end their lives, Cudi added. Everyone believes they are fantastic. 30 songwriters are working on tracks for the top 5 artists. Let me share a fact with you. F-key is no longer tolerated. The counterfeit ones won’t endure for very long.
“I’m the one they’re concerned about because they know I don’t care about the trite stuff they do. I see all my young people who are here supporting, including Travis Scott, SuperDuper Kyle, Audio Push, Hit-Boy, and the rest of the ASAP family. And I also see all of you envious chicken-hearted s-ts. The culture is me. The rapper responded to Cudi’s scathing comments earlier that day when West was still on his Saint Pablo Tour.
Sept. 20, 2016: West Publicly Forgives Cudi
Again, West responded to Cudi’s tweets while performing, this time in Houston. This time, West apologized while standing on the suspended stage for his Saint Pablo Tour.

November 2016: Cudi Joins Kanye On Stage
A few weeks later, Cudi performed “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” with West in Sacramento, California.
