Hosted in Lake Michigan, it has become one of the largest free shows for the audience to enjoy. As a matter of fact, the very first show was arranged in the year 1959 and was actually meant for kids. It was hosted in Chicago Park District’s day camp program. U.S. Navy Blue Angels: This will bring over 100 crew members of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marines including the pilot, eight F/A-18 Hornets, C-130 “Fat Albert”. They will be also seen performing their patent aerial moves that will consist of diamond and delta formations.

U.S. Army Golden Knights: Maintaining their reputation since the 1960s, they are one of the original performers of the show. They have been appearing since 1960 and this team is currently managed by David Ross, Vince Vaughn, and the famous comedian Bill Murray,

Other Military Performers: The show will also bring together many notable military performers that you do not want to miss. Some of them are U.S. Air Force Red Horse Mobile Aircraft Arresting Gear Team, U.S. Navy F-35C Lightning II Demo Team, Illinois National Guard 183rd Security Forces, Coast Guard Air, and Sea Rescue Demo, U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo Team, Illinois Air National Guard KC-135R Stratotanker, Maryland Air National Guard A-10C Thunderbolt II and many more.

Civilians: Other civilians who are prominent figures in Chicago will be joining to show their talents. Of course, Chicago Fire Department Air and Sea Rescue Unit; Chicago Police Department helicopter will be present. To execute the show to perfection, Kevin Coleman, Bill Stein, Susan Dacy, Triple Time Team, and Rob Holland will be making your jaws drop.

You can watch the show from North Avenue Beach, Ohio Street Beach, the lakefront from Fullerton Avenue that is located south of Oak Street beach, Theatre on Lake, and even less crowded places including parks. Some even recommended rooftop bars like Cindy’s, Streeterville Social, Offshore Rooftop and Bar, and The J. Parker for amazing views. Of course, there are observation decks as well along with Lake Michigan cruises to make the day worth remembering.

Can You Watch The Aircraft Take off And Land At The “Chicago Air And  Water Show”?

Yes, you can. You just need to pay a fee of $10 per vehicle to park your car at the Gary/Chicago International Airport.

Herb Hunter will be keeping you updated about the show. He is an announcer based at North Avenue Beach who is a former military pilot and also served as the United Airlines captain. The coverage can be heard live on WBBM-AM 780 and 105.9 FM.
