A well-known American actor, director and producer, Clinton Eastwood Jr. His breakout roles as the “Man with No Name” in Sergio Leone’s “Dollars Trilogy” of Spaghetti Westerns in the mid-1960s and as antihero officer Harry Callahan in the five Dirty Harry films in the 1970s and ’80s propelled him to international stardom after his success on the Western TV series Rawhide.
In part due to his portrayal of strong, independent men in these and other films, Eastwood has become a cultural icon of masculinity. Two years after being elected in 1986, Eastwood stepped down as mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.
Eastwood’s western Unforgiven and sports drama Million Dollar Baby both earned him Best Director and Best Picture nominations and wins, respectively. His most popular works are the comedies Every Which Way but Loose and Any Which Way You Can.

The Westerns Hang ‘Em High and Pale Rider, as well as Where Eagles Dare, Escape from Alcatraz, Heartbreak Ridge, In the Line of Fire (1993) and The Bridges of Madison County, are also among Eastwood’s most well-known works. Among the more recent works are Gran Torino, The Mule and Cry Macho. All bar four of Eastwood’s American features since 1967 have been produced by his business, Malpaso Productions.
