Was Anyone Held Accountable In Relation To Mac’s Demise?
Ryan Reavis, 39, was given a 10-year and 11-month prison term after entering a guilty plea to providing Miller with oxycodone laced with fentanyl in September 2018. The US Attorney’s Office claims that when Reavis sent the tablets to Miller’s heroin dealer, Cameron Jame Pettit, 30, he was aware that they were tainted with fentanyl.
According to documents submitted in federal court in Los Angeles, Reavis provided the medicines to Pettit on Walter’s instruction. The tablets were allegedly sold to Miller by Pettit on September 5, 2018, two days before he passed away.
Reavis is the only one to have received a sentence thus far out of the three people who have been accused in connection with Miller’s killing. While the case against Pettit is still proceeding, 49-year-old Stephen Walter has admitted guilt to the distribution allegation brought against him and is presently awaiting punishment.
How Did The Fans React To Mac Miller’s Death?
His death shocked his followers and friends, notably his ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande. I can’t believe you aren’t here anymore, Grande wrote in a devastating homage to Miller. I’m having a hard time understanding it. “I don’t know what to do. I’m so upset, so heartbroken. I’m sorry I was unable to ease your suffering. I was really hoping to. At the time, the rapper and musician Post Malone tweeted, “God f****** dammit. You were such a remarkable individual. So many lives were altered by you.
Had a heart filled with so much love. You motivated me throughout high school, and without you, I wouldn’t be where I am now. Never a more loving, truthful, or attractive individual. Mac, I f****** love you.
In addition to establishing the Mac Miller Circles Fund, which aims to “provide young musicians with tools to help fulfil their full potential through inquiry, expression, and community,” the McCormick family later laid to rest Miller in their native Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The organization announced plans to provide 75 Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) with microgrants in July 2021 to aid in their work.
