Concept Art for Half-Life 3 Is Now Available Online?

Insight into Valve’s intentions for the legendary sequel Half-Life 3 is expanded upon by newly discovered concept art. While it’s possible that a Half-Life 3 might be developed after the release of Half-Life: Alyx, it probably won’t be anything like what was originally planned. While fans have speculated for years about the plot of Half-Life 3, thanks to various leaks Valve has never truly addressed the matter officially.

It’s a big mystery in gaming and it’s made us think about the games that might have been. A new glimpse at Half-Life 3 has been provided by 2K Games producer David McGreavy. McGreavy has compiled concept art from numerous Valve projects and uploaded some of it on the internet.

The image depicts a group of figures venturing across a landscape littered with wreckage widely interpreted as alluding to the Borealis. The most intriguing artwork is a worm-like version of Dr. Breen, appropriately named BreenGrub. Adding to the franchise’s already bizarre sci-fi roots, it was once revealed that Breen, upon his death would have been transformed into an extraterrestrial worm.

Kotaku also published artwork by McGreavy depicting Alyx and Dog passing across a valley. McGreavy claims this was for a different project involving the two characters, not Half-Life 3. It’s unclear if this is tied to Half-Life: Alyx or one of the numerous other Half-Life projects that went into development over the years.

After the events of Half-Life: Alyx, many people are hoping for a Half-Life 3. Although nothing official has been announced supporters remain optimistic that Valve will finally bring the VR project to fruition. According to rumors, it’s already in the works but is being kept under wraps for the time being.

In that case, it could be a while before we see any results as the developer is likely to keep quiet about it until it’s ready to be released for fear of suddenly disappearing.
