A celebrated American musician who has gifted the world with soulful music, Taylor Hawkins is the famous drummer of the popular rock band, Foo Fighters. The drummer also flourished in a side music project named Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders which added to the identity of the famous personality. But the sudden demise of the musician at such an early age has brought sadness upon the family and the entire industry. The celeb had more reasons to live and a lot to offer still. His journey has been fulfilling and fans are mourning his death.
Who Is Taylor Hawkins?
Born on 17th February 1972, in the beautiful land of Fort Worth, Texas, Taylor Hawkins was a talent to look out for since his younger days. His family moved to California in 1976 and settled there in Laguna Beach. The late star had two loving siblings named Jason and Heather. He is the childhood friend of Jon Davison and as kids, they performed in multiple groups together. They had played in high school dances, weddings, and more.

Before landing the big bands, Hawkins had to try a number of different bad bands. He started with Sylvia and then left to join Sass Jordan and finally left that to become a part of Alanis Morissette’s tour.
You may recognize Taylor Hawkins from numerous videos like “You Learn,” “You Oughta Know,” and “All I Really Want”. In spite of Alan being a top name in the rock industry, Taylor joined Foo Fighter on 18th March 1997. Taylor’s career had already taken off and he started working with popular bands such as Red Hot Chili peppers. Even after so many years, Foo Fighters are still considered to be amongst the biggest rock bands ever and had completely sold-out shows with over 86,000 attendees.
Apart from playing drums, Taylor Hawkins is a well-known rock singer who is a maestro in playing guitar and piano. Guns N’ Rose wanted him to be a part of their group while creating a new version, but like a legend, he remained stuck with his original troop Foo Fighters. He is an icon in a true sense.
Hawkins Relationship And Personal Life
In 2005, Hawkins married Alison Hawkins who remained his wife until his last breath in 2022. The couple was blessed with three children namely Oliver, Annabelle, and Everleigh. However, his personal life is also pretty messed up. He has been struggling with substance use and in 2001, he had a heroin overdose. This led him to be in a coma for two consecutive weeks. Later he clarified that he wasn’t an addict or junkie, it was just an accident due to heavy partying.

How Did Taylor Hawkins Die?
On 25th March 2022, Hawkins was lying unresponsive in his hotel room located in Bogotá, Colombia. On testing his urine, officers found huge traces of opioids, benzodiazepines, marijuana, and tricyclic antidepressants. As a whole, he had 10 different drugs in his system. It was stated that Hawkins suffered from an unprecedented cardiac arrest resulting from an overdose of heroin, benzodiazepines, and antidepressants. When the medical reports were out, experts couldn’t believe how swollen the heart of the musician had finally turned out to be. It was quite a heartbreaking moment for the festival goers and Hawkins was also supposed to play at Brazil’s biggest music festival.

But faith has something else planned for him and this was a very sad goodbye.
After over two months, Alison Hawkins, the late drummer’s wife along with their children shared a joint statement on Taylor’s social media pages.
On 8th June, the family updated in a lengthy letter, “My deepest thanks and admiration go out to the global Foo Fighters community and Taylor’s fans far and wide for the outpouring of love each and every one of you have shown our beloved Taylor,” “Your kindness has been an invaluable comfort my family and me during this time of unimaginable grief.” “As Taylor’s wife, and on behalf of our children, I want to share how much you meant to him and how dedicated he was to ‘knocking your socks off’ during every performance. Taylor was honored to be a part of the Foo Fighters and valued his dream role in the band every minute of his 25 years with them. We considered every band member and the extended Foo Fighters team our family.” She ended with, “Thank you all again for your love and sympathy. Taylor loved all of you & we love you too.”
As of now, two Taylor Hawkins tribute concerts are planned for 3rd September in London and 27th September in Los Angeles. So, to live the moments yet again, join the concert and always remember the artist he was!
