Why Did Florida Georgia Line Break Up?

Florida Georgia Line has been one of the most popular performers in country music during the past ten years. The duo has won over millions of country music fans and cemented their place in music history thanks to popular songs like “This Is How We Roll” and “Cruise.”

Fans will need to prepare for a new phase of the legendary duo’s music since, regrettably, things may be changing for the group sooner rather than later. So, did the Florida-Georgia boundary split? Here is what we currently know.

Did Florida Georgia Line Break Up?

Members of FGL Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley revealed in a recent interview with People at the inauguration of a new FGL exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville that they will be taking a break from being a duet following their series of summer festival engagements. Both musicians seem to put their full attention into their respective artistic endeavors. “I think ‘taking a break is the proper term, as opposed to breaking up,” Tyler told the publication.

“We’re using these last 12 shows as a time to celebrate FGL, celebrate the fans, celebrate each other, and then support each other on the next chapter of our musical and creative journey, which is gonna be individually for a while,” Tyler added.

Brian also clarified that it’s not a breakup. “They’re not going our separate ways,” Brian told People. “We’re taking a break from recording our music. We’re artists. We love creating. And so a couple of years back, we started writing without each other and trying different writers, and now we’re both doing that with our music.”

Florida Georgia Line Was Previously Rumored To Have Broken Up Back In 2020

Florida Georgia Line has battled breakup rumors numerous times for their prosperous career. After Tyler and Brian unfollowed one other on social media in 2020 over political differences, speculated that the two were calling it quits. However, this never happened, and the duo went on to perform and record songs. FGL’s current tour, which runs through the summer of 2022, has seven stops left, according to its official website.

They initially announced a substantial tour back in May 2021, but due to an increase of COVID-19 cases by August, they were forced to postpone it. The duo’s remaining festival tour dates are the only ones left at this point.

These last tour sites represent the broader U.S. and Canada. They are Country Thunder Arizona on April 10, 2022, in Florence, Arizona; Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam on June 4, 2022, in Panama City Beach, Florida; Barefoot Country Music Fest on June 16, 2022, in Wildwood, New Jersey; Country Fest 2022 in Cadott, Wisconsin; Country Thunder Wisconsin in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin; Boots & Hearts in Oro Station, Ontario, Canada; and Country Thunder Alberta in Alberta, Canada, on August 21, 2022.

Florida Georgia Line has produced several popular songs, including Cruise, This Is How We Roll, Lil Bit, and May We All. However, as they will no longer be collaborating on music, their run has finally ended.

On August 31, 2022, Hubbard and Kelley gave their farewell performance at the Minnesota State Fair, where they also emotionally spoke to the audience. According to Variety, Hubbard thanked the audience, saying, “You guys have made it possible for us to pursue this insane dream of writing songs and performing performances and hoping someone will come by to listen.

“It marks the end of a unique, fantastic chapter for us. Looking forward to and anticipating what comes next is incredibly exciting for us. Although the upcoming chapter is exciting, we want to celebrate this one with you guys first. Hubbard previously clarified on Bobbycast that there is no animosity between the two actors and that, after ten years in FGL, they decided to explore independent careers. It is now unknown if they will ever get back together.
