The official debut of the Spring/Summer 2022 collections(know about Designers) has begun and the resulting looks are sure to endure. On the other hand, the atmosphere of this season is unmistakably distinct from previous years.
Whereas in prior seasons, when you entered a show, you had some idea of what you thought would be revealed when the models(features Charli XCX, Janet, Doja and Flo Milli) walked around the bend, this season, you had no idea what you would see. However, after spending so much time away from the racetrack, getting a handle on everything is difficult.
Are we more concerned with creating cozy-chic ensembles for leisure or office-appropriate outfits? Maybe some sparkling party looks for the post-pandemic future that we’re so desperately hoping to live in by the time Spring 2022 rolls around. Even though it was a “new” experience, it was also one of the most exciting things about the shows this season.
In the following, we have compiled a list of the most noteworthy occurrences on the SS22 runways.
THOM BROWNE

Naturally, for Thom Brown’s return to New York Fashion Week, he did not simply give us a presentation but rather an entire performance instead. The highly anticipated show was loaded with the designer’s distinctive pieces, which included tailored jackets, pleated skirts, and structured forms.
MAISIE WILEN

Another newbie to New York Fashion Week, Maisie Schloss, the designer of the label Maisie Wilen, showed her debut collection at the top of The Standard hotel. Her collection was a success, and it did not disappoint. The collection is a perfect example of the prairie girl aesthetic, which is also very New York. This season is all about wearing enormous floppy hats, if you haven’t noticed before.
RODARTE

Rodarte has returned to New York and we couldn’t be happier about it. The Mulleavy sisters, Kate and Laura, have consistently emphasized contemporary women and are sensitive to the environment. They provided us with cozy-chic ensembles to wear throughout the outbreak. Now that we have successfully emerged from the pandemic and are making our way back into the world, they are providing us with dazzling party looks.
COACH

Coming back out into the world for Coach means doing so in a manner that is bold and vibrant. The company’s tradition is alluded to through the use of leather, casual t-shirts and startling tailoring found in this vibrantly colored collection. The varied lineup catered to people eager to get back into fashion and others who still want to hold on to that comfy at-home style, and we are here for both groups of people.
MARKARIAN
The designer Alexandra O’Neill transported us to our youth’s good ol’ party days, and we’re talking far back here. I felt like I had gone back to the beginning of fashion shows when collections used to be displayed in designer salons.

Markarian blended the styles of the downtown cool-girl and the uptown heiress for a group that appeared oh-so-perfect for today’s world. This was accomplished through embroidered evening gowns, sustainable mohair sweaters, and glittering headpieces courtesy of Gigi Burriss Millenary. It is not surprising that Dr. Jill Biden chose a skilled designer as the one to create her inaugural gown.
MICHAEL KORS

This year, Precious Lee completely rewrote the rules of the modeling game. A timeless gown that exuded classic elegance while still being appropriate for today was worn by the rising model, and she looked utterly breathtaking in it.
BEVZA

In her most recent collection, designer Svetlana Bevza focused on the simple elegance of natural beauty to draw attention to the impeccable craftsmanship of the clothing. The Ukrainian brand’s minimalist aesthetic is executed flawlessly, which evokes a sense of freshness and excitement. Her silky cutaway dresses were the most popular ones in her collection.
LAQUAN SMITH

LaQuan Smith demonstrated that New York is once again a vibrant and prosperous city at the most New York location possible: the observation deck of the Empire State Building. In a typical LaQuan Smith manner, he simultaneously delivered a seductive and edgy performance. Although the vistas were spectacular, the act stood out against the backdrop, particularly the enormous velvet floppy hats.
CAROLINA HERRERA

Suppose you’ve followed along with our Sex and the City reboot material. In that case, you already know that fashionista Carrie Bradshaw considers Ms. Herrera to be one of her favorite designers, and it’s safe to say that we can certainly see why she feels that way. Evening dresses designed by Wes Gordon include a combination of contemporary and traditional design elements, resulting in a look that is both timeless and exquisite. These dresses are available in time for the summer garden parties, sure to be a hit.
MOSCHINO

When it started to rain during Gigi Hadid’s opening (and closing) performance at Jeremy Scott’s Moschino show, she didn’t let it dampen her spirits. The supermodel donned a dress with elephant sleeves and a look reminiscent of a nursery from the early 2010s when she closed the show. The motif throughout the entire collection featured items like outfits with pastel animal prints, necklaces with letter block pendants, and diaper pins.
PROENZA SCHOULER

It was the first fashion show to be staged on the newly created Little Island, and oh my, did they do the venue justice with the Proenza Schouler presentation. The collection was complete with happy, brilliant tones of tangerine and red, timed precisely for the sunset and as a backdrop. Perhaps it was a coincidence, but it could have also been planned.
COLLINA STRADA

Collina Strada launched the shows during New York Fashion Week with a spectacular rooftop performance at the Brooklyn Grange that made it difficult not to have a smile on your face. The display took place during the skipping back into New York Fashion Week. The show was entirely stolen by deadstock fruit terry tees, upcycled raffia purses, and revolutionary floral gowns made from recycled nylon.
