Justin Herbert, the quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers, tried his best to lead his team to a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night, but the Chargers were ultimately defeated 27-24.

After taking a hit from Chiefs defensive end Mike Danna with around five minutes left in the fourth quarter, quarterback Justin Herbert sustained an injury and had to go the game for one play because of it. Herbert appears to have suffered some kind of damage to his abdominal region, most likely involving his ribs.

After lying on the field for a few more minutes, he eventually got up and left the competition, and Chase Daniel took over from there. After missing just one play, Herbert returned to the game, although he didn’t appear to be all that comfortable moving around.

After the last whistle, the Amazon broadcast stated that Herbert would get X-rays done. Brandon Staley, head coach of the Chargers, informed reporters after the game that his quarterback is “OK,” and he also praised the warrior spirit that the quarterback possesses.

Staley reported that “He’s OK” “It was a challenging game, and you are not going to see a quarterback at any level of football play tougher or do more for their team or will their team to give them a chance than he did. It doesn’t matter what level of football you watch. You won’t see a quarterback like him.

Nobody else is capable of doing what he is able to achieve. Nobody. He displayed a great deal of bravery. He demonstrated to us, like he does every day that we’re never out of the battle, and he brought us back and gave us a chance.” Following the conclusion of the game, Herbert was not made available to the media.

According to The Athletic, Staley was also quoted as saying that he does not anticipate this ailment to be a problem moving forward. Although Herbert was visibly injured after returning to the game, he could direct a scoring drive that covered 73 yards in nine plays late in the fourth quarter.

On fourth-and-goal from 7 yards out and with just over a minute left to play, Herbert threw a touchdown pass to Josh Palmer to cut the deficit to three points. On the other hand, the Chargers were unable to recover the onside kick that was immediately after it.

On Thursday night, Herbert had a completion percentage of 62.5, throwing 33 of 48 passes for 334 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Mike Williams filled in nicely for Keenan Allen, who was sidelined with a hamstring injury and was unable to play.

Williams caught eight catches for 113 yards and one score in Keenan Allen’s absence. It was a heartbreaking setback for the Chargers, especially considering that Los Angeles led in every quarter of the game other than the fourth.
