It would appear that DC is working on developing a follow-up to one of its cult classic films. A report surfaced on Friday indicating that Warner Bros. is working on a sequel to the film Constantine, which was released in 2005. The film’s star, Keanu Reeves, is expected to return, as is the film’s director, Francis Lawrence.
The picture is going to be written and produced by Akiva Goldsman, while J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella are also attached to the project as producers. Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Erwin Stoff are attached to the project as executive producers. According to several reports, the agreement was negotiated by the newly appointed co-chairs of Warner Bros.
Picture Group, Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy. It is possible that this is one of the more unexpected projects to be in the works under the Warner Bros. Discovery regime, which has been in the news several times in recent times for their upcoming ambitions for the DC universe.
Even though it was a commercial success when it was first released in 2005 and is considered a fan favorite, some people consider Constantine to be a loose interpretation of the Constantine mythos presented in comic books. In future live-action adaptations of the character, Matt Ryan plays him in a television show titled Constantine and on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
Jenna Coleman portrays a gender-bent version of the character in the most recent The Sandman Netflix series. As part of an overall agreement with Warner Bros., J. J. Abrams has also been producing a new Constantine series that will be exclusive to HBO Max. This series will be a part of a shared universe centered on Justice League Dark.
At this moment, it is not apparent whether this movie sequel would take precedence over the plans for the program, which were said to be “on firm ground and going along” in a report from the entertainment business published one month ago. There has been talk of a Constantine sequel for several years now.
In the year 2020, co-star Peter Stormare gave an interview in which he stated that preparations were being made for a continuation of the Constantine story. Reeves has been quite public about his intention to play the part again.
In an interview for the year 2020, Jennifer Lawrence said the following about shared universes: “Unfortunately, I don’t even remember who has it, but with all these shared universes that exist now, with Constantine being a part of Vertigo, which is a part of DC, people have plans for these shared universes.” “You know, there may have been multiple Constantines, along with other similar events.
It is unfortunate that we do not currently have access to that character for the production of television shows or movies at this time. Everyone looked into it, but I think it’s odd when you have Keanu, who would love to do another Constantine, and us wanting to do another Constantine, and people are like, “Uh-oh, we’ve had other plans.”
We’ll have to wait and see what ends up happening.” What are your thoughts on the news that Warner Bros. is working on a sequel to Constantine? Leave a comment below and tell us what you think about this topic!
