Johnny Depp is Dating His Lawyer Joel Rich: According to reports, Johnny Depp is dating Joelle Rich. She defended the troubled actor in his unsuccessful UK trial against The Sun tabloid publication.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor filed a lawsuit against News Group Newspapers in 2020 for an April 2018 piece that described him as a “wife-beater” and detailed allegations of abuse against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Justice Andrew Nicol listened to harrowing testimony stories from Depp and Heard over three weeks that summer, during which the two accused the other of abusing them. Nicol ruled later that fall that Heard’s statements were “substantially true” and that he found “the great majority of alleged assaults of Ms. Heard by Mr. Depp” had “been proved to the civil standard.”
It would be “crazy,” according to Rich, one of Depp’s attorneys if the actor didn’t appeal the decision. The representative for Johnny Depp disputes the $300 million “Pirates of the Caribbean” sequel deal claim.
The mother of two is now going through a divorce, according to TMZ, which has supposedly “verified” that the two are currently having romantic relationships. According to Us Weekly, Rich was in the courtroom for “support” even though she was not a member of Depp’s legal team during his Virginia defamation lawsuit.

This information was revealed shortly after Camille Vasquez, Depp’s American lawyer, denied dating him in an interview with People. “I guess it comes with the territory of being a woman just doing her job,” Vasquez said.
“It’s disappointing that certain outlets ran with it or said that my interactions with Johnny — who is a friend and I’ve known and represented for four-and-a-half years now — that my interactions in any way were inappropriate or unprofessional. That’s disappointing to hear.”
When Depp won his defamation case in the summer after suing Heard for falsely alleging him of abuse in a Washington Post op-ed, TMZ had reported that he and his entire legal team had become quite close. Vasquez recalled how they frequently worked into the night, sometimes staying up until five in the morning, on Depp’s case.
“I care deeply about my clients, and we have become close. But when I say we, I mean the entire team, and of course, that includes Johnny,” Vasquez said at the time. “And, I’m Cuban and Colombian. I’m tactile. What do you want me to say? I hug everyone. And I’m not ashamed about that.”
The jury in that instance concluded that Heard “acted with actual malice” and that Depp had, among other things, shown elements of defamation. Amber Heard and her legal team have claimed they want to challenge the decision, which granted Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.
Heard claimed that she had “always told the truth” in a highly watched interview that she gave after the decision.

“I would not blame the average person for looking at this and how it’s been covered and not think that it is Hollywood brats at their worst,” Heard said on NBC. “But people don’t understand is it’s so much bigger than that. This is not only about our First Amendment right to speak.”
