When thinking of great new shows from the past year, The White Lotus is constantly at the top of my list. Thanks to its outstanding murder mystery, wonderful White Lotus ensemble, and everything in between, the show became an instant hit for HBO, leading to a second season. You can trust its quality because it was nominated for twenty Primetime Emmys at the upcoming 2022 ceremony.
But we like to plan ahead, and Season 2 of the show is on the horizon. Rapidly approaching; sooner than you could imagine. Here are some quick facts we know about the upcoming second season of The White Lotus, including where the series will take place, who will be returning, and who will be joining the ensemble for the first time.
Season 2 Of The White Lotus Is Expected To Premiere In 2022
Season 2 of The White Lotus will premiere in October 2022, so fans who were worried they’d have to wait a long time can breathe a sigh of relief. Variety reports that the show will launch on October 30 of that year (2022).
Given that Season 1 of House of the Dragon is presently running as of this writing, and that Season 2 of The White Lotus is set to premiere not long after, the upcoming fall television season is shaping up to be a terrific one, especially with respect to HBO.
Jennifer Coolidge And Jon Gries Are Returning For The Second Season
Initially, The White Lotus was promoted as an anthology series, which entails that each season will have a new cast and location. In spite of what may appear to be the case, given the new locations and characters introduced in Season 2 of The White Lotus, the show is keeping a few returning faces.
Initially, Jennifer Coolidge’s return was announced. While I appreciate Coolidge’s work in films like Legally Blonde and the cult classic American Pie, my favourite role of hers is as the erratic businesswoman Tanya McQuoid on The White Lotus.
It has been reported by Deadline that she will return for Season 2. According to an interview with Deadline, Coolidge has confirmed that Season 2 of Tanya will be just as complex as the first.
Tanya’s ex-boyfriend Greg, played by Jon Gries, first appeared in the pilot and has since been confirmed to return. A YouTube video for the new season of HBO shows the two riding motorcycles together, confirming the rumor.
I’m looking forward to the new cast members, but I can’t wait for these two to return and cause even more mayhem than they did before.
F. Murray Abraham, Aubrey Plaza, And Others Will Join The Cast In Season 2
There are many new cast members, but that is to be expected given that this is an anthology series. The whole cast of The White Lotus Season 2 has been listed on CinemaBlend, but we’ll run down the highlights here.
Stars like Aubrey Plaza, F. Murray Abraham, Haley Lu Richardson, Theo James, and Leo Woodall are among those who have appeared. Many of these actors have extensive television experience, making this excellent news indeed. For example, Aubrey Plaza has worked with the cast of Parks and Recreation, and F. Murray Abraham has starred in the funny Apple TV+ comedy Mythic Quest. It will be an exciting journey regardless of how many people sign up.
The Second Season Will Take Place In Sicily
Season one of The White Lotus took place in a stunning Hawaii resort, but for season two, we’re going global. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly from 2021, creator Mike White hinted that the show could be moving overseas:
Yes, our hope has come true: Season 2 will take place in Sicily. The White Lotus is travelling to Italy, as stated in the show’s official Instagram‘s biography. Most recently, a YouTube teaser for Season 2 confirmed this by displaying a boat with the words “The White Lotus: Sicily” on the side, as well as the stunning scenery. Wow, am I psyched!
In Season 2, Writer Mike White Teases a “New Mystery”
The fact that we were following a good mystery throughout Season 1 of The White Lotus, beginning with the coffin being put onto an aircraft in Episode 1, was a major plus. The thoughts and relationships amongst the characters were excellent, but nothing beats finding out how a mystery is solved.
In an interview with Deadline, White assured viewers that Season 2 would introduce a “new mystery” for them to unravel: “It’s the same show, but it’s different in a lot of ways.” Right off the get, I’m really into it and enthusiastic. Yes, please, bring on the new intrigue and the novel ideas.
I don’t think anything can top the Season 1 finale of The White Lotus, but I’m excited to see what Season 2 has in store for us and the unexpected turns it takes.
