Lil Nas X, best known for his hit single “Old Town Road,” is teaming up with Coach as a brand ambassador. He explained that the partnership is about “walking into new chapters of life, new experiences, and new versions of myself.”
Singer of “Old Town Road” stars in a new short film for Coach in which she promotes self-expression and genuineness as part of the company’s new “Courage to Be Real” mission. In the clip directed by Petra Collins featuring his latest single “Star Walkin,” Lil Nax X, 23, shared his courageous journey of evolution, breaking barriers and stereotypes to become the superstar and the person he is today.
The rapper’s journey from humble beginnings in the Atlanta suburbs to international superstardom as a result of his music and the transformation brought about by his daring sense of style are all explored in this surreal film.
According to a press release, “Lil Nas X moves through doors that represent the struggles he has faced in life—from fear, self-doubt, and judgement from others—and ultimately takes the stage, inspiring the world to transcend their limits and express who they are at their core” in the new campaign video.

Stuart Vevers, head of creativity at Coach, was ecstatic to collaborate with both Collins and Lil Nas X on this new venture. Meanwhile, the Atlanta-bred crooner explained how the campaign serves a similar purpose to the work he has been accomplishing. In his own words, “this campaign represents everything I’ve overcome so far in my career,” Lil Nax X said.
“It’s based on being true to oneself and expressing oneself, two things that are very important to me, as I embark on new adventures and discover new sides to myself. Working with Stuart and Petra on this project was a blast.” During New York Fashion Week last month, the “Industry Baby” singer also made his runway debut for Coach during the label’s Spring 2023 show.
He reflected on the moment while talking to PEOPLE about the campaign and said, “That was really cool.” “I felt a little out of place among all the models, but I told myself, “Oh nah, I got this.” To be here is my destiny. I might have given off an angry impression, but inside I was beaming with joy “That’s not all, he went on to say.

Another surreal experience for him was sitting next to Anna Wintour at the Vogue World fashion show. She was really cordial and effusive in her congratulations, he claimed. “Simply having Anna recognize my name as a creative force is an honour in itself. I had no idea I’d end up in the same row as her.”
Keep in mind that “In this week’s edition of PEOPLE, Lil Nax X tells us that “style is a sort of self-expression,” adding, “It’s a way to show people who you are, or at least how you want them to view you.” To advance in life, I believe it is necessary to take risks and do things that you typically would not.”
