Later in March 2021, they married and started having a family of their own. But Jewett had to live his job after his high-profile marriage was everywhere. When announcing their happy union through a statement, Scott and Jewett shared the update on the “Giving Pledge” which is a campaign to inspire people with wealth to donate a huge portion of what they have to charity.
Jewett updated back then, “And now, in a stroke of happy coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know — and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others”.
Even he published a letter through the Giving Pledge that stated about Dan being “grateful for the exceptional privilege it will be to partner in giving away assets with the potential to do so much good when shared”.
In fact, a friend close to Scott described Jewett as an “earnest, not very edgy … the perfect person to end up with this money to give away – no sense of greed at all”.
So, yes, it seemed to be the perfect relationship that couples crave. However, there are differences now and divorce is on the way.

The couple had been married for only a year before calling off their marriage. Mackenzie Scott submitted the papers to proceed with a divorce from Dan Jewett. Things are escalating fast since Jewett’s name is now no longer included in Mackenzie Scott’s group that aims at inspiring wealthy individuals to donate the majority of their wealth. Moreover, Scott even legally removed her second husband’s name from the author’s bio section on Amazon. She deleted all the pictures she had with him on all the social media platforms. In spite of having all of the wealth involved in the process, the divorce is expected to be “pretty standard and vanilla” as stated by attorney David Glass. Since David is a family attorney, he was the one who took control over and monitored all the filings before submitting them to Washington State’s King County Superior Court. Furthermore, there was no prenuptial agreement.
In this context, Glass stated, “A separation contract under Washington law is when you say to your spouse, ‘We’re going to get divorced and we can work out all the details ourselves. Let’s write it up in an agreement and we’ll just notify the court that we’ve figured everything out,’ “And so that’s what they did here.”
