On the day of the January 6, 2021 Capitol uprising, Nancy Pelosi allegedly stated that she wanted to “punch” President Donald Trump in the face.
In a new video that came out Thursday, the House speaker said, “If he comes, I’m going to punch him out.” “I’ve been waiting for this, for trespassing on Capitol grounds. I’m going to punch him out and I’m going to go to jail and I’m going to be happy.”
The never-before-seen footage was shot by her daughter, documentary filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi. It showed Pelosi talking to her staff.
A cut-down version of Alexandra’s behind-the-scenes video was shown at the last meeting of the House committee looking into the Jan. 6 attack on Thursday.
Pelosi was angry before the Capitol was broken into. She had just seen Trump’s speech to his supporters, in which he told them to march to the Capitol to protest Congress certifying the election results.

“Tell him, if he comes here, we’re going to the White House,” Pelosi said on the video, joking.
When Pelosi’s chief of staff tells her that the Secret Service was able to “dissuade” Trump from coming to Capitol Hill, which Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson confirmed in her testimony on Thursday, she says she would “punch him out.”
Earlier footage shown at the committee hearing shows Pelosi sitting in a secure but undisclosed location as supporters of Donald Trump stormed the building and asked a staff member if lawmakers were still in session.
“There has to be some way to maintain the sense that people have, that there is some security or some confidence that government can function and that you can elect the president of the United States,” Pelosi said in the footage. “Did we go back into session?”
A staffer off-camera then said, “We did go back into session, but now apparently everyone is putting on tear gas masks to prepare for a breach.”
The contrast is clear: extreme Republicans want a national abortion ban and question the integrity of the ballot — Democrats want personal freedoms and voting rights.
The public is with Democrats — now we must turn them out to vote.

“They’re putting on their…?” Pelosi then asked quizzically. The staff member replied, “Their tear gas masks.” “Do you believe this? Do you believe this?” Pelosi said quietly.
In another part of the video, Pelosi could be heard saying that she had heard about damage to the building, such as “defecation” on the House floor.
“It could take time to clean up the poo-poo… literally and figuratively [that] they are making in the Capitol,” Pelosi said in the video.
