Directed by Brian Levant and starring Daniel Stern and Braeden Lemasters, A Christmas Story 2 was released in theaters across the United States on December 21, 2012. It’s a continuation of A Christmas Story from 1983, and it completely skips over the events in My Summer Story from 1994.
Ralphie, now fifteen years old, wants a 1939 Mercury Eight convertible for Christmas but wrecks it in the opening scene. The film takes place six years after the first. Before his father (The Old Man) finds out, Ralphie and his buddies (Flick and Schwartz) must find a method to raise enough money to fix the automobile before Christmas.
Despite the trailer’s claim that the film is an “official sequel” to Jean Shepherd’s novels, it is actually based on an original script written by Nat Mauldin, who also serves as the film’s narrator in place of Shepherd (although Shepherd’s original storyline about Ralphie and his friends looking for work and then getting fired was included in the telefilm Ollie Hopnoodle’s Haven of Bliss).

On October 30, 2012, the film was released only on DVD, and critics were not kind. Warner Bros. Discovery Global Streaming & Interactive Entertainment has announced that on November 17, 2022, they will release a sequel to A Christmas Story titled A Christmas Story Christmas exclusively on HBO Max.
Story Line Of A Christmas Story 2
The events of this film occur in 1946, therefore it is six years after the original. At the age of fifteen, Ralphie’s one Christmas wish is for a used 1939 Mercury Eight convertible. When he sees the vehicle displayed on a ramp, he decides to give it a test drive.
Unfortunately, his attempt to do so causes the car to roll back out of the used car lot and gently tap a light pole, causing a plastic reindeer perched on the pole to come free and fall through the convertible top.
To prevent the auto dealer from having Ralph arrested and, presumably, thrown in jail, Ralphie bands together with Flick and Schwartz to earn enough money to pay the dealer back for fixing it before Christmas.

After Johnny and his pals land jobs at Higbee’s, they proceed to work their way through the business before finally fighting with Santa and each other, leading to their dismissal. Even though Ralphie eventually gets his job back, he’s still $1 short on Christmas Eve and, together with Flick, steals Schwartz’s “lucky buck” to make ends meet.
Ralphie stops to help a struggling family while on his way to the dealer. Ultimately, the dealership’s owner does not hold him responsible. For Christmas, he receives both the automobile and the girlfriend he desires.
