Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was released from a San Francisco area hospital on Thursday, according to a statement from the speaker’s office. Paul was attacked at his house last week by an intruder with a hammer.
After the attack that occurred early on the morning of October 28th, 82-year-old Pelosi was taken to the hospital. He suffered a skull fracture and “severe injuries to his right arm and hands,” but according to the Speaker of the House’s office, he will be fine after surgery last week.
Paul Pelosi “remains under doctors’ care as he continues to progress on a protracted rehabilitation path,” according to a statement released Thursday.
The message concluded with the words, “The Pelosi family is thankful for the magnificent outpouring of love, support, and prayers from around the world.”
The family also expressed gratitude to the emergency personnel and medical staff at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
David Wayne DePape, 42, has been charged with attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, and assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the attack on Paul Pelosi. Prosecutors allege in court filings that DePape told police he was on a “suicide mission” and had a target list of state and federal officials in an effort to battle “lies” coming out of Washington.
DePape is not expected to appear in court on Friday for a continuation of the state case; he has, according to his public counsel, renounced his right to do so.
According to San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, DePape entered the residence in the affluent Pacific Heights district of the city looking for the House speaker. When he yelled, “Where is Nancy?,” it was reminiscent of the chants of rioters searching for the speaker during the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Legislators began having casual discussions about how much protection they and their families need in the wake of the attack. For the president, Pelosi is the next in line.
According to The Washington Post, despite the Capitol Police had put cameras surrounding Pelosi’s home over eight years ago, the officers in charge of watching the 1,800 cameras that survey the Capitol and beyond didn’t see the Pelosi house until they observed the police responding to a call.
After Pelosi left San Francisco last week and went to Washington, many members of her security detail reportedly fled her home.
It was determined that DePape smashed his way into the house.
According to the police, Pelosi made the 911 call by saying he needed to use the restroom, where his phone was charging.
